WOW !!! I'm 54.
I am surprised most of the owners here are in their 20's !!!
I suspect the average IS owner age is even lower.
When I was in my 20's I bought a 2 year old Cadillac for 1/2 price,
a new Celica GTA, a new Supra, a new Trans Am but nothing as nice
or EXPENSIVE as a new Lexus GS.
Most of the clientele at my local Lexus dealer are 60+.

I agree, it is the same at my local dealership, thats why its hilarious when the valet pulls up my car and ppl just look at me all weird as I begin to enter the vehicle. But since this is an online enthusiast site, you obviously will have a wider range of age groups, specifically in their 20's, because we have just love to waste our money......(at least I do

The way it looks, by far and large the average age range for a GS owner is going to fall into that magic 29 - 40 gap. The LS goes higher of course, not only due to price but due to styling. (seriously, set a 7-series, an S class, and an LS next to each other and you'll inevitably find a retiree, an MD, and an Attorney.) NOT ALWAYS. . . but again, by far and large.
There is also a certain split between female drivers in favor of the IS in any price range. Thus, the "chick-car" moniker from the 1st gen IS that still very much applies to the current Gen. (F-sport excluded) This throws the bell curve out of whack when talking purely "age".
All of Lexus' targeted advertising for the GS is in that age range since the median income for that demographic nowaday seems to support those vehicles. Also the styling is still very much Sports-Luxury whereas the LS and LX vehicles are Euro-Luxo cruisers. Remember the 30 something couple in the "December to remember" commercials with the 2 new GS's ?
Those from 29 down are vastly in the minority. Specifically those heavy into modding. Very few folks with families, homes, and deeply involved careers are dumping 10's of thousands into a vehicle and then ripping it apart to install body kits, lighting, suspension mods. Now before you start a flame war, I am not saying modding isn't open to those outside of this demo, but consider this for a second...
Those 35+ are less likely to be online on message boards talking about rims, and lights, and ipods and tint.
Those less than 35 are statistically more likely to have lesser degrees, carry student debt, or other revolving debt which deteriorates both debt. to income ratio and credit score needed to qualify for financing.
Those 35+ who can afford to drive a high end car most likely don't care about your 22" wheels or your extra bright HID Lamps. Thus, this site, the aftermarket and most of the press on this forum is geared toward the lower age bracket.
Those outside the Demo that aren't "enthusiasts" and just looking for maintenance help and Q/A probably make-up a healthy percentage of the 100k or so "registered" users on this board.
To qualify this result, there really need to be more questions.
Married or Single ?
# of Kids ?
Home owner ?
Degree'd ?
Coming from the days where anyone with a pulse could get a mortgage or lease a car it's not surprising there are plenty of 24 and 25 year olds rolling around in $50k automobiles. I see plenty of $60k /yr. "millionaires" who make it rain on the weekends, and can't put gas in their Rover until payday.
The question we have to ask ourselves, and what you have to try to ascertain from the marketing Lexus does is if this is truly "the face" of Lexus.
I'd have to say that it's far and away NOT the image they're selling cars under.
Lexus is, was, and will be the "Japanese Benz", and it will still be marketed to the discerning professional with liquid, disposable income who will send it to Toyota finance every month.
Hats off to the young bucks who can drive their nice Lex-Whip and pickup chicks.
It's the modern day equivalent of my pops 70' Javelin, or 75' T/A with T-Tops...

Hey guys, there is an older and much more responded to poll with the same question here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...s-drivers.html
Btw, I am 27, single, no kids, non-homeowner (townhome shopping now), and have a BS degree (chem eng)... and I do make more than $60k....
To qualify this result, there really need to be more questions.
