Default Keycard Tricks?

Hi guys I just picked up my 2009 GS 350 AWD Ultra Premium Lexus yesterday and the rep showed me a trick where if you stand outside your car and you hold the unlock button it makes all the windows and sunroof open automatically, but then he showed me that you have to put the key into the door to make them close automatically but I tried that trick when I went home as I got the windows/roof to open but can't seem to remember how the rep got them to close automatically as well. Anyone know how to do this trick?

you have to put the key in your drivers door and turn it toward the "lock" position and just hold it. all the windows and sunroof will close. its not very practical. im sure thousands have complained that the key fob cannot close the windows just open them. Lexus R&D should have thought of that.......oh well.

p.s. welcome to CL and congrats on the new ride!!!

Thanks man. I guess I just have to put the key in and turn it to the left and hold and then the windows & roof will lock. PS the ride is really good and I will check this site every day as there is so much to know on how to make use of all of these features! I am not used to this kind of car as I was used to driving an 03 Camry XLE so this is a huge jump for me and I am still getting used to the luxury.

It's a fairly old "trick"-even my 98 VW Beetle is capable of doing.

The issue is not Lexus R&D, but legal. Many makes such as BMW and Lexus will not let you shut them to protect others from being caught.

Sad... but it is true!!!

I know my GS in Taiwan can close all windows and sunroof via remote (by holding LOCK on the remote).

I have asked my service advisor at Sewell to see if they can enable that function for my US version's GS; after he did some research, he told me that he could not find a way to do so...

Maybe when I go back to Taiwan this Summer, I will ask the tech to see if they can find a way to enable that function for US' Lexus!?!

Can't you just press and hold the button on the door handle down to close all the windows? I'm pretty sure I did this on my 07 gs350 and an ES350 loaner. It didn't work for my brother's IS350 though.

Which is silly because the windows also have an auto reverse if the windows get stuck rolling up.

But even with Autoreverse...if you don't check, you have just left your car sitting there with the windows down. My 03 accord had same issue, and they were quite clear that it was a legal issue in the US

PS...but there is hope... We have also been told that the AUTO UP function was unsafe and we all have that now and that it wasn't fitting to have an OH SH$$ handle on the drivers side, my car has one of those now too...

I'm pretty sure the button on the door will not close anything but only open the door.
