Default navigation

on my 06 gs300 my nav isnt the newer modern looking one, that is blue. its more of a greenish gray nav and isnt nice at all.. is there anyway i can change it to the modern one?

06 has a gen 4 nav. You can change the color if thats all you want, but the resolution isn't as nice as the nav in 07+

Yes, the new version has a HD screen. I believe you would need to upgrade to the V5 and replace the screen as well.

it'll be cheaper to sell your car and get a new one with the better screen, just give up the idea entirely, not cost effective at all

Screen is the same. Same resolution and all. The signal just isn't utilizing the resolution as much as the gen 5's. Maybe you can do a firmware update (not navigation update), but such a solution does not exist for the consumer.

I wonder if it's possible to change the nav hard drive. I would love gen 5 in my car

ill ask a buddy i know that works at a lexus dealer what all would be involved from changing to 4th gen to 5th gen.

I talked to my guy at the dealer he said the only way to upgrade to the 5th gen is to get the whole unit. He told me he just did one in an 06 last week. He said the guy picked up a used one from a wreckers for 700

would changing the ecu inside the glove work?
