1GS was from 1991 - 1996. 2GS from 1997-2004. There's 5 yrs and 7 yrs. Also, it seems the Infiniti M35 has a new face coming in November 2010 as a 2011 MY (looks very similar to a Jag XF). Conjecture for sure. But I find it puzzling that the domestics will tell you 2 years in advance (i.e. Mustang, Camaro) when a new model will come while the Japanese market is usually quiet until 3-5 months prior to a new MY.

Too much fuzzy math occurring. 
I still feel a release is in sight in late 2010 for a 2011 MY. Hyundai's Genesis can't be ignored, a new M35 is 18 months away, a new E class is due later this summer, BMW announced a new 5 series for 2011 MY....a hunch tells me a new GS will coincide with the new M35.
Design specs for these cars show a more sloped back end (like the Jag XF or Nissan Maxima), minimizing rear seat headroom. Looking at the next E class, I see front end similarities to the current GS.

2012 was the original plan before Toyota's profit took a dive. Toyota unlike other companies, is a very practical, bottom line kind of operation. They are run by bean counters, not engineers. If Toyota is losing money, you can bet that the bean counters will not let Lexus spend millions on R&D for a low volume car. Even though I think Lexus really need a high performance midsize sport luxury sedan to be taken seriously world wide.

Well, whenever the 4GS arrives, I for one, hope it has more headroom than the current model. I am not especially tall (6') but find in both the IS and GS that I don't have enough head room without reclining the seat. I have heard others make the same complaint. For a car this large, it should have more interior room.
