This is good to know. At least now I know not to dump any money into my 3GS and wait to see how I like the 4GS. I will probably be trading mine in if it is nicer than the new E Class.

250 is probably to make a high mpg version of the GS. If you go overseas, you will see that it is a common tactic to put low-power high mpg engines into luxury cars. I know that I used to see a lot of this in Germany. If you want more power, then just don't buy the 250.

Agree...I dont see a GS in 2010....last one was like an 8 yr cycle....98 99 00 01 02 03 04 05.... I suspect earliest will be like a mid year 2011 arrival, probably as 2012 model

Reading the past 15 or so posts, bottom line is Infiniti is stealing Lexus GS market share by advertising the 2011 M. Lexus doesn't have anything worthy to share with the media regarding 4th Gen.

On the flip side, went to the L.A. Auto Show this past week and Infiniti was a no show and the Lexus display was an embarrassment. My gut tells me the new C and E class Mercedes will take away more Lexus market share.

Lexus, has great technology but that technology is geared towards making the car's functionality work well within its motor and underpinnings. The LS just got the gig hard drive. Ford and Honda and some others had the gig hard 2-3 years ago. Lexus needs to get younger in their thoughts. No longer are the old and gray buying their vehicles. Young business men/women, doctors, layers and IT peeps are buying their vehicles. We are the X and Tech generation.

I like the whole idea of introducing more economical engines for tree huggers. and dropping the 4.6V8 altogether. This will lead to a very distinct GS-F sales target. Now you dont have to compete with a 4.6V8 and a 5.0V8 in the lineup.

To me, this makes sense as it will make the GS-F more appealing to folks who want the V8 power.

Actually Lexus market share is up half a percentage point this year. No one knows about the new M37/50 as in consumers. The internet makes up a very tiny portion of them so what we talk about is rarely discussed by the public.

The GS has ousold any Infiniti M since 1993. Remember the car got discontinued then brought back as a 4 door in 2004 or so. 2009 is the first year the car will outsell the GS and they both honestly have sales in the toilet.

Sadly for me GS-F does not have the appeal of a base line V8. As for a daily drive its fuel economy will be pretty bad, suspension parts set up for semi track use and it will be priced way too high. Should Lexus neither offer a competitive hybrid, say 450h/500h or so, when looking for a replacement, I may very well be forced to set my sights on what the competition has to offer in the V8 category...
