Default HELP - Road Noise, Thinking of Upsizing tire

I just bought a used 07 GS350 RWD yesterday. I noticed considerable road noise and I can feel every bump and crack in the road. The tires are the stock Yokohama's and tread looks like its got another 4000 miles left on them.

The stock tire size is 245-40-18. I'm thinking of upsizing to a 245-45-18. Is this even possible without rubbing and do you think it will help with the road noise a bit?

Thanks!

the profile is probably not the biggest problem, it's the tires design. stock yokos are pretty loud specially when worn. if you get the oversize tires, if you don't lower the car i guess you are ok, but it's possible that the front you might rub the top of wheel well when you hit bad dips

personally i would just go with some quieter better tires when these wear out

wouldn't the slightly larger profile tire also give me a softer ride? thanks for your input.

Going from 40 to 45 is not going to make much diff. if you want a quite ride, buy some touring tires.

It would be the tires themselves and not the size.

They are not run flat tires. So it sounds like it not recommended?

If you have the Yokohama Advan A10b tires, you can talk to the service department about the excessive road noise. Several members here including myself have gotten replacement tires either for free or half paid for depending on the mileage of the tires. I had to talk to Lexus North America and it took about three months to work out a deal but they ended up paying half the cost to replace all four tires of my choice anywhere.

great thanks for the input. I'll try calling them up... but my tires are almost gone.

but theoretically a 45 series tires (245-45-18) would fit right?

As far as fitting, I don't think there'd be a problem since it would be about an inch taller. The one thing that bothers me is the 3.8% difference in your speedometer that's all.

i would just say the larger tire won't help you much on the noise. of course, when the tires are new they will be quiet

My 2009 350 RWD have Yokohama A10, but I don't see the "b". Are these the ones susceptible to road noise? I did notice road noise being much worse than any of my previous cars and would like to exchange them if there's a way to do it.

Since you took delivery of an 09, you may not be able to just exchange them back... And since it's brand spanking new, you're less likely to experience the actual really annoying and loud road noise that some of us have experienced. I would still bring it up to the attention of the service though. Also, Yokohama may have changed something with the tires and maybe that is why it doesn't say the b anymore. Good luck.
