20 bucks a rip off. You can check the seal on the gas cap to see if its cracked. If yes, then you would need to get a new one. Pepboys sales them like 7 bucks.

I just bought a 2006 GS430 for my wife and a week after purchasing, we started getting errors, VSC off and the error codes were P0441, P0455 and P0456. I started searching and found this site and a Technical Service Bulletin on ALLDATAdiy
L-SB-0168-09
November 18, 2009
MIL "ON" DTC P0455 & P0441 or P0456

Market:USA
Vehicle: 2006 GS300 or 2006 GS430

Some 2006 model year GS 300 and GS 430 vehicles may exhibit a MIL "ON" condition with one or more of the following DTCs: P0455 & P0441 or P0456. Use the repair procedure below to address this condition.

Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
This repair is covered under the Lexus Federal Emission Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date. Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.
TIS Techstream v4.20.018 or later is required.

Required Tools & Equipment

Repair Procedure
1. Using TIS Techstream clear the stored DTCs.

2. Using TIS Techstream perform the Automatic EVAP System Check. System Select > Engine and ECT > Utility > EVAP System

If P0455 and P0441 or P0456 set go to step 3.

HINT: If DTC P0441 sets ALONE, this TSIB does NOT apply - Refer to the Repair Manual for further diagnosis.

NOTE: If the Automatic EVAP System Check fails to run, perform the following:
^ Turn the ignition key OFF.

^ Turn TIS Techstream OFF.

^ Turn the ignition key ON and TIS Techstream ON and restart the Automatic EVAP System Check.

3. Inspect the fuel cap.

Does it tighten properly?
^ YES - Proceed to step 4.

^ NO - Replace the fuel cap then proceed to step 5.

4. Inspect the EVAP system for the leak source.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
^ 2006
Engine/Hybrid System - Engine Control - "3GR-FSE Engine Control System: SFI System: EVAP System"

^ 2006

Engine/Hybrid System - Engine Control - "3UZ-FE Engine Control System: SF1 System: EVAP System"

Was the leak source isolated at the fuel cap to filler pipe sealing area?
^ YES - Replace the fuel cap then proceed to step 5.

^ NO - This TSIB does NOT apply - Refer to the Repair Manual for further diagnosis.

5. Clear DTCs.

6. Perform the Automatic EVAP System Check and verify NO pending DTCs set.

System Select > Engine and ECT > Utility > EVAP System

.....................
I purchased a new fuel cap and compared the two. One difference I noted is the new cap has yellow writing on it instead of white and the gasket is brown instead of black. I noticed the old one with a black gasket was compressed to about 1/2 the thickness of the new one with the brown rubber.

I disconnected the negative battery terminal during the procedure for 3-5 minutes and reconnected once completed to clear the codes.

I noticed as mentioned earlier that the old cap was loose enough that when removing it, there was no tension, it just unscrewed. The new one is loose up to about a 1/4 turn when removing and then I feel it catch and then unscrew.

After resetting the code in the past without replacing the cap, it took 50 miles to come back. I'll see if this works for sure and let you know.
