When I replaced my OEM Dunlop run-flat tires with the Pirelli PZero runflat back in March 08. These tires have to me excessive road noise to the point that I hate driving my car. The OEM did not have road noise or at least not enough for me to notice.
I am finally going to get new tires, not because I need them, but because I want to enjoy driving again. So my question is.... How does one determine which tire to get that had reduced road noise, but good handling. Tirerack wants $272 for the Dunlops right now.
Are all run flats noisy? I would prefer to put runflats back on the car, but if the noise is going to be the same as what I have now. I may have to reconsider.

my dunlop runflats are very loud, and they do not handle very well in the rain. continental makes a good tire, as does michelin and bridgestone. you can find all season tires that handle very well within their lineup. no need to go with a 'performance' tire IMO given your stock setup. there are many good brands out there, and everyone has a different experience. i personally do not like falken or dunlop given the applications i have used. that said, i am a fan of the nitto 555 for the same reason. give commercial tire in elkridge, since you are in md like i am, a call and see what they reccomend to you. they have been around for many years, and have all the knowledge you will need and some good prices, though they may not be able to meet some of the internet prices. they have good service as well.

OP: michelin primacy hp tires are oem tires, ride is good and fairly quiet (at least for me). you may want to consider these; go to tirerack and see how this tire compares to other touring tires. good luck!

Its obvious, RUNFLATS are a lousy invention., Even if they do have any benefits they still have a long way to go to give the best ride and handling compared to the regular all seasons or summer tires. Trust me, get rid of those runflats and get decent Michelins, Yokohamas, etc and you will not get any noise that you are complaining about. DUNLOPS are junk and they are only good at making tennis ***** and rackets.

Those Pirellis must be really bad if they have you thinking of going back to the Dunlop runflats. I keep checking the tread on mine to see if it's time to replace yet.
