I'm referring to my original post and link, and not tape adapter with cable others hijacked this thread with
I finally got this SD-cassette mp3 player in the mail. It’s a neat little SD-card reader with external controls (forward/back/play-pause/vol+-/EQ) to use as standalone mp3 player. Sound quality with headphones is decent. It comes with USB cable to transfer songs and to charge the battery, as well and AC and car-charger adapters, and headphones. It does play music from SD card once you plug it into cassette deck of 3GS. You can't use USB charging cable while tape is plugged in because tape goes inside and down. Also, it supposed to use tape deck FF/REW to skip through the songs, but it does NOT work with our tape deck controls. According to this mp3 player manual, you have to hold tape control button for 4 second in order for song to switch, but with touch controls in our stereo - you just tap it and it starts to fast forward instead of skipping. So you can’t really control switching between songs.
The bottom line, if you want neat looking mp3 players in a shape of cassette (no display to see songs) - this works perfectly and sound quality is OK w/headphones. But to use with your car's stereo - it doesn't respond to our tape controls to skip through the songs and you have to just plug it in and listen through every single song. Pretty much it's a dummy mp3 player. I also saw an issue where it didn't resume from the spot where I stopped and ended up re-starting from the beginning of the song. For us with ‘06/’07 models without AUX input, its probably better off getting one of those tape adapters and plugging its 3.5mm jack into external mp3 player where you can control songs.
