Just wondering why lexus would do a new body style in 06, then change it to a gs350 in 07. Is there problems with the 2006 3.0 motor?
To my knowledge the 07 uses the GS 350 3.5-liter 2GR-FSE engine and the 06 uses the 3.0 litre motor.
Thanks, sorry for the newb question, just looking for a 3rd gen and want to make sure I know what im getting myself into.
I will be going AWD.

I searched under "difference"

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ifference.html
There are no problems with the motor the GS 300 and IS 300 are sold in the middle east still. Lexus wanted to keep things fresh with the GS so they went with multiple engine changes this generation.
We love our GS 300 brothers
but we all mostly agree the GS 350 100% > the GS 300. Clearly faster, as efficient, more mods for it (most F-sport parts are for the 350) and its been rated as one of the ten best engines worldwide.
Good luck

I went with the GS300 recently purly on my perceived value, I already own an SC430 for fun. There are lots of GS300s with low miles in the 25k-26k range fully loaded and CPO. The 350s are a bit harder to get used in my area and have a much higher resale value. For under 29k I could not be happier, I will only put 1-2k miles on it this year.. its just to get me to the train station
Doesnt have the HP that a 350 does, but freeway passing is not a problem at all IMO. I tried both at my local dealer and it was not enough of a issue for me to make it worth the extra $

Both are great engines. What are you looking for?
If it where me and being its AWD I would take the GS300 CPO for the money. If your not worried about the money or looking for a little more HP GS350.
One major difference will be the navi. If this is a feature you will use and want the next generation navi went in the 07 and newer models and IMO its much nicer. Outside of this I can't think of anything else that would be worth the newer model year.
Good luck in your search.

The 3.0 L in 3GS, on the other hand, is a new construction and V6, not I6.
GS300 is still being sold not only in the Middle East, but everywhere in Europe and most of Asia.

I have a GS 300 AWD, Navi, Mark Levinson, fully loaded. I enjoy it. At one point I thought that I would be happier with a 350 AWD, but little things like today going to the beach watching people get stuck left and right make me glad I'm AWD. I didn't have any worries.
It handles very well with AWD, also.
GS 300 engine is plenty powerful for the average person. If you must have the extra speed, then opt for the 350. The only real disadvantage I see with the AWD is worse fuel economy.
I would say with these cars, just make sure you get a fully loaded one. That is where the real beauty of the cars shines through. Who buys a GS to race? Most people buy for luxury, looks, and comfort. If you want to go fast, there are other cars which are probably more fun to drive, but lacking in other areas that the GS thrives in.

2006 GS300 ML and 40K miles vs a 2007 GS350 ML in So Cal was no where near a few thousand difference.. if it had been I would have stepped up into the 350... but the reality out here is a delta closer to 10K, both being CPO.
I paid 26k and the closest 350 I could find ML and CPO was 35K.
where are you all coming up with a couple or a few thousand difference? Maybe in other parts of the country?
