Just get a TV-Navi kit on Ebay, it is around $230 now days. Around ten years ago I saw a T-Bird at night on 101 with jammed rear brake. Its rotor on rear was brighter than 3k HID, you don’t want it to happen to your car.
Beside just some ebay kit, are there certain better quality kits. Like if I buy a kit, I would want something that isn't going to break on me within a few weeks. I want to bypass mine to but absolutely hate cutting up wires. So I am all about kits
To the original poster, I would like to say even the parking brake being applied wont work, the speed sensor goes to the head unit and disables the video as well. So irregardless of the parking it wont work, the system is redundant. Just snip a couple of wires as outlined in the sticky or get the PS kit
oh ok I see.....it worked just rolling but it wouldve sht off had I gotten up to speed......i guess a kit is my only option bc i dont want to do the switch/wire cutting
what are the kits people have had luck with? i know PS.....any other good ones?

i have had my kits for almost 2 yrs and never any problem. i don't know how many PS has sold but i think they have yet to see a real issue with their kit. in fact i was just talking to chung @ ps the other day about another kit for my friend
i have the ps kit installed on mine too and it works great. it was my first time taking apart my car too and it was very simple with the write up on the forum. took maybe 45 mins. hardest part was pulling the navi out. damn those little tabs.

and when i did mine i did the vaistech as well. the nav unit is heavy!
hows the volume on yours? when i play a movie, i have to have the sound up to like 45 to just hear it normally.
the volume on mine is normal......same level as a cd......dvd's sound awesome in my car!! especially now that my aftermarket stereo stuff is finally installed....fantastic
^^ correct me if im wrong but it would work for the navi over ride only right? i thought only the dvd players came in cars with the ML package.

yup, dvd changers only on ML equipped cars. but for those who have ipod integration like the vaistech sl2vi, the override kit works perfectly to enable video while driving too (otherwise video shuts off when parking brake dis-engaged)

ill have to take mine to the dealer and have them look at it then.

dvd audio is always less than playing cd or mp3, that's normal. same thing you do it in the car or any dvd players or computers. when i watch dvd video (authentic dvd movies), i often have to crank up to 40+ to hear clearly
