LooooooooooooooooooooL. I only drink coffee wherever I go, and yes they want $129. I called again to make sure it is just an oil change and not a transmission replacement and they confirmed it is just an oil change.

Have you checked with any other Lexus dealer, theirs might be less.

in socal, NONE of the toyota dealers will do oil changes on a lexus, even though they use the same parts.

has anyone in socal had success at a toyota dealership?

Default How much for piece of mind?

That is the question you need to ask yourself. I get my oil changed at the Lexus dealer every 7500 miles. That means I ride around with the damn red light un for 2500 miles. I also get my tires rotated when I take it in. I feel more at ease at the dealer. May cost a few bucks more and I will have to drive past 5 or more oil change places. But it easier to hold Lexus accountable if I can say they have been the only ones to work on my car. The only thing I have not had done at the dealer was tire installlation. I have them installed at NTB, but take it to the dealer to make sure they are installed correctly. We have two GS's in this family and I make the appts back to back.

The best of the best independent shops I have found, is Connie and Dicks in Claremont, just north of the 10 freeway off Indian Hill. http://www.connieanddicks.com/

For the month of Aug they will handle the oil change on any Lexus for $39.95 for dino, synth is a bit more. But they are super honest, and have one of the finest shops I have seen, eveything from alignment racks to the tools they use its all first rate and you can watch the entire process while you wait.

I have tried a few of the shops in Glendora etc for Toyota and they all send me to Crown or Longo... its a racket.

There you go. They also do synthetic for about $70

WTF... was that for a synthetic oil change? If so then that's still pricey.

My Lexus in Hollywood, FL charged about $50 for Semi-Synthetic and a car wash. Goodyear charges the same for Full Synthetic and a tire rotation. Toyota is $35 for Dino oil and no frills. For do-it-yourselfers, Walmart sells 5qt. Mobil 1 jugs for around $27. I wouldn't trust any express lube facilities with my car. I'm funny that way.

At Sewell Lexus, they charged about $50~$60 for regular oil change.

They let me bring my own Mobil 1, charged me $30 for the labor, oil filter, oil filter ring, car wash, and a free loaner!!!

Even if you did not bring your own Mobil 1, they only charged $119 or $129 for the full-syn oil change!!!

i got mines done at the local $8 dollar express change they have camera's on the bottom of the car so u can watch them the whole time. seriously took only 15 mins. Spent 22 bucks bucks on 6 quarts of mobil 1 full synthetic (used only 5.5 quarts) brought my own filter. 8 dollars out the door. I'm happy. Not planning to change it for another 15,000 miles.

15k? seriously? thats a lot of miles between changes. to me id rather spend the extra 45 bucks and get it done at the dealer. i never trust those oil change places. they hire anyone that can turn a wrench.

as a new owner this is my first change, I bought CPO, dealer said to bring it back for the initial change and its free..but honestly Ill do most eveything I can myself, I like to see what comes out and how everything is holding up underneath and in the engine compartment.

I bought a couple of Rhino ramps to make this easier, simple enough, 29.95 and the last time the dealer changed the oil they torqed the oil housing on so tight I had to use the special cap and some serious wrenches to get it off... the manual says about 19ft/lbs I have NO idea what gorilla cranked this on, but I feel better now doing it myself, I know that the seals are on correctly, its torq'd to the right amount and that all the hoses and belts etc look to be in good order. Its a good time to check everything else while I am waiting for the oil to drain out.

I switched to Valvoline Full Synth, at 3.99 a quart, plus the oem filter, it was about $30.00 in total and about an hour of my time. I will change it out about every 5,000 or every year as I only drive around town. Plus now I know the tires are good, no nails etc, the fluids are all good and the cabin and air filters are all clean.
