I always thought Lexus used a full sized spare tire? My father's old '99 GS had the OEM 17'' chrome rim and tire as the spare. Why did they switch?

they switched to the space saver spare to cut down costs, kind of like the steering wheel isn't made out of the same material as previous years and the automatic windshield wiper and all those things.

A few things come to mind.....why the heck is the nail not in the tire all the way unless this just got in there as you pulled in to the garage and the tire has not gone around a full turn to push it in more.....that is why I asked if it went flat when you pulled it, just mark the place with tape or something. Also, why would thsi destroy a tire, a patch is perfectly safe (not plug of course). Unless I am seeing wrong, it is in the tread not sidewall..

so i worded it wrong dont get too excited. yea im going in to get it patched, i think i said that before. it was up like that because we were looking to see exactly where it went in, its original position was similar but folded down, his drive is about 30 miles and mostly freeway, so he either picked it up in the 2 miles before the freeway, or the last mile after the freeway
