a. sit in car with key fob. open the control panel door by your left knee.
b. press the start button twice (DO NOT HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE).
c. set the odometer to read total miles (ODO) and not Trip A or Trip B.
d. press the start button once more to shut it all down.
1.now press and hold the mileage trip RESET button then press the start button two times. (do not have your foot on the brake as you do not want to start the car).
2. keep the reset button pressed until you hear a beep and the the words OIL MAINT RESET (or something like that) display on the small screen.
3. Once that message goes away, take you finger off the RESET button and press the start button one more time to shut it all down.
Now, start the car normally and make sure the Oil Maint Required message does not come back. (Please note, you will see it flash again in 4500 miles and be on steady in 5000 miles)
(see page 87 in your manual)

the steps are in the manual. You can also have the lexus dealership turn off the maintenance notification light. I am thinking about it because its annoying. I am responsible to change the oil every 5 k. The lame little window sticker or pure memory works well enough for me if I can avoid driving around with a glaring red light on the dash
