Default '06 GS430 v.s. '08 GS460

Of the people that have driven both cars, do yall think if someone is about to buy a GS430 but an '08 gs460 comes up for sale for only 5000$ more, is it worth it pass on the gs430? or is the $5k not worth the difference in horsepower?
From what I was reading, the front fascia is different along with ofcourse the engine and tranny... The '06 has 30k and the '08 has 35k miles.... which would you choose?

(say the '06 is $36500 drive out after taxes and the '08 is $40500 after taxes)

You gain new NAV, an 8 speed auto, side turn signals, interior updates and a clear difference in power, new wheels (other small things too). I would get hte 460.

Why settle for the 430 when the 350 has the same HP, if not a few more. Sure the 430 probably has more torque but it isn't enough to impress me. Like 1sicklex said, that 8 speed tranny is GREAT. People say and I do believe them when they say that it gets better gas mileage compared to the GS350 because it means the car will be cruising at lower gears compared to a 6 speed tranny. Not to mention, the updated navi system is worlds apart.

I rather get a GS350 > GS430 no matter what anyone says.

I have the 06 GS430 but if the difference is only 5k, I'm upgrading baby. I would do it in a heart beat and trust me I love my 06 but for that spread I would be dumb not to buy the newer car (IMO)

Agree with 1stlxs. I have an 06 as well. I would upgrade to an 08 in a heart beat if the diff. is only 5k. Maybe I should go to lex dealership and shop around. speed300g, where in tx are you? PM me if you're interested in an 06 gs430. I'll sell you mine for less than the price you posted.

Agree with everyone here. It's a pretty easy decision to go with the 460. What's another 5k when you're spending 35 already?

I guess it just depends on how much 5k means to you =] If it is a little amount, then go for it as you are getting exactly what you want. If it is a stretch, I'd go with a 350. My dilemma was similar to yours, if I was paying 40k for a car, I thought "that isn't too far from it being brand new for an extra 10k or so"

Thanks for the replies... Everyone's idea is on the same track as mine..

UNFORTUNATELY, the decision isnt (wasn't) mine.... One of my cousins already went for the '06 430 after me repeatedly advising to just put in the few thousand more and get the newer and improved '08 model !
The only argument one his part was the CPO warranty on the 4 30 was 3 years vs the remaining warrany on the '08 being 2 years....... and the '08 wasn't from a Certified preowned dealer, but a small dealership. I was like, WHO CARES! Nothings going to go wrong with a lexus with that low mileage anyway. But oh well, atleast I tried..

I just made this thread to see if there was any good coming out of his choice... guess not

Haha, not sure if he'll join but I'll definitely get pictures this weekend... He did get them to take off the stock wheels and put some different style Lexus rims on it which looks really good.

460 ofcourse!! More power, More torque, slight diff in shape, minor interior tweaks, and a possibility to achieve a 13.9 :P

You won't get 28 mpg from my own experience.
3000g cousin got the point. You gotta make sure that you get a certified used lexus cause everything that goes wrong with the car can be a hefty cost to repair. Who knows what's wrong the NOT certified car, especially when you spend $40k + on the vehicle. Not a bad choice imo.
