Question Tanabe Madellion and HKS Hi-Power

Hey guys

I currently have the Tanabe Madellion exhaust and Thinking about getting the HKS Hi-Power exhaust. Can anyone up here give me some idea interns of the difference between them? Such as sounds and performance thanks in advance.

Take care

KY

Performance is probably a wash. These exhaust systems do nothing for us in the performance dept., IMO. I just took my Tanabe off a few days ago. Definitely didn't lose any power. I think I've read that the HKS is a little louder than the Tanabe though.

I think the Tanabe looks way better than the HKS. I have the Tanabe and it is very quiet. But paired up with my K&N intake the car sounds damn good.

Performance wise, exhausts usually have little to no difference. the HKS is slightly louder and you get a drone while driving at low speeds. If you want something more low profile, I'd suggest the Tanabe. With the HKS you'll get more attention from people as well as cops.

I wish Greddy would make an SP version for the GS. I'd be the first inline for it.

I have the medallion and the K&N intake on my 07GS350awd for almost a year now, and not bad combo, but just not "sport sounding" enough for me, since we are soo limited on exhausts for our cars, i decided to customize last wk. Removed the resonator of the exhaust. The tanabe is axle back, keep that, but removed the stock resonator (older lexuses have like 2 to 3 resonators) theres only one....Funny thing is, i cut the resonator off and didnt have time to make the straight pipe, so basically i ran with an open exhaust for a couple of days!!! LOUD!!!! sounded like a V8 M3 on steroids!!! I actually liked it but didnt sound right for a lexus GS...Had no idea our v6s could sound that mean at all...Now w/ a temp/makeshift straight pipe connecting the exhaust, it doesnt sound crazy anymore, sounds kinda like IS350 w/ joeZ exhaust with cats...

Personal preference here but I just took my Tanabe off and am so much happier back with the stock one. Automatic luxury cars with exhaust systems just isn't my cup of tea. It's like an oxymoron. Just my $.02

how did you get the resonators off? aren't they welded on to the mufflers?

...U have to cut the resonator off at one end and at the other end is here it attaches to the axleback portion of the exhaust, and that can be bolted off....BTW, by doing this u "kinda" void ur exhaust warranty, but thats all...the rest of the warranty is still in affect!!! Dont let peeps OR dealers tell u that now the hole warranty is void, thats totall BS! The only way that anyother aspect of the warranty can be void, is if something happens and the exhaust is what caused it...EXTREMELY hard to prove, and ofcourse this will never happen, fortunatly toyota still makes good cars (granted, theres always minor prob) but compared to AUDI/BMW/MERCEDES, its night and day! I've owned all of these (the high end models) and w/ no mods, i was at the dealers atleast once a mounth w/ major stuff....
