would you say this asking price is lowballing the dealer?

Hello everyone, I live in Dallas TX and I was wondering if asking the dealer for $39,000 on a new GS350 without nav/ML considered lowballing? I want to be respectful yet I don't want to get ripped either.
If you have just purchased your GS350 I would love to know what you paid for it!!
Thank you for your responses!

it's a buyer's market...doesn't hurt to try.
wait till the end of the month when they're desperate for sales.

My friends have mentioned that December is a good month to purchase cars and I will probably start looking at that time. I also noticed, twylie, the invoice price is around $41,000 so I was just curious what would be a low end to start the negotiations. Oh and whlkev, yes it is bid prior to tax. I suppose for a no options GS350 RWD it sounds like opening at $40,500 would seem like a favorable start?

yeah. I think you are pushing it a bit. You probably need to pay a little more but at least you can tae advantage of the low interest rates and financing deals right now

I have to agree with the other CL members, you are pushing it!!! But still, it does not hurt to ask!!!
When I special mine from Sewell in September 2006, I got $5,700 or $6,300 off the MSRP. Even though, PP counter offered additional $500 off to beat Sewell's price. But I decided with Sewell instead, for the following reasons:
1. They offered me with the reasonable price, did not waste my time by playing with the numbering game;
2. Bad service department: NO APPOINTMENT = NO LOANER;
3. Service cost more than Sewell, for example: oil change $50 vs $150;
4. Vehicle gets damaged evne during car wash;
5. Some of my friend worked at the PP, and they do not recommend to have it service there either.
So my advice to you would be, try to get the best price on the vehicle from either one, but have it service at the Sewell!!!![Wink](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
P.S. Don't forget to apply for Lexus' VISA credit card, you can use the point for services and purchase of new toy!!!

what's the MSRP?
you can try 15-18% off msrp nowadays. Just tell em you're buying a 1 year old used car, in effect. and that earlier on in the year, you could get 12% off easily.
but i've heard that TX is not as easy to haggle over prices as it is in cali.

srew the dealer low ball them, i did on my wifes IS with navi and they finally took it. i would try working with the internet people i dropped a number that was 1500 from where they were asking, out the door too. they were pushing 38,XXX but i told them 35500. finally we meet in the middle at 36600 with tax tag and title.. i actually even got offers even lower but only one dealer had the color combo we wanted so we paid a little more just for the combo..LOW BALLING is the way to go or else they will push you around, ive bought many cars through the years and it never hurts.
