STP, those would be the OEMs, just get d4s. One thing I would suggest is that if you do end up needing new ballasts and are out of warranty, you may consider d2s ballasts....then you can buy d2s bulbs and there are philips d2s 6k bulbs
http://cgi.ebay.com/Philips-6000K-Ul...item230202ce33

those will outlast any other 6k bulb

OK, good to know. Thanks again, I'm ordering the bulbs today, and once they are put on, i'll post up if its the bulb issue or possible ballast (hope its not).

Thanks so much

I have a feeling it may be the bulbs but who knows =)

Did you purchase the car new? Are you sure you don't have aftermarket bulbs in there?

Hey XD, Bought the car used, never really inspected the bulbs though. My assumption and feeling is that its still OEM because the previous lease was for a company exec that was driving. If that person neglected to pick up on other issues/warranty/TSB's then I'm guessing they wouldn't know how to change a bulb either.

Thanks everyone, I'll keep this posted. I'm leaving to go sit on the nice FDR traffic awaiting me.

STP,

I would pull out the bulbs and verify that they are OEM. I would not be surprised if they were aftermarket.

Finally got the bulbs in and finally got them put in.

Damn it took a while to wedge my hand in there for the drivers side. Took almost an hour for the pair.

First thing I noticed was brightness compared to the old pair. (Also, the original ones in the car I pulled out, were OEM Philips.)

Few things I noticed while putting the bulbs on. **Pardon my lack of terminology**
- Where the bulb sits into is the projector type housing right? Is that supposed to move? I'm assuming that for the AFS?

- Is it possible during my installation that I moved the unit off the correct beam pattern? Meaning my driver side to me seems more to the right, in the horizontal sense? Or am I just noticing this because of the new bulb effect?

- Since I was in there I couldn't find the channel that the "long" screwdriver is supposed to go into to adjust Vertical pattern. I understand the whole staircase thing. But my lights are definitely not high enough where I feel safe.

- This morning while driving into work still dark out, I noticed when I went over bumps or series of bumps the light vibrated with the cars movement. Didn't see this before. Is this normal? Or perhaps my AFS wasn't working properly before or now?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks

Bringing the old post back...

Can we see some pictures of PIAA 5500k in action. I am very interested in buying them, but would like to see the color, etc. Don't like the blue tint in the 6000k bulbs.

If anyone has the Philips D4s 5000k installed, please post some pictures as well.

Thanks!

Default PIAA D2S bulbs

Hello everyone. I actually have an '03 IS300 and I was doing a Google search on the PIAA Super Cobalt 6600K D2S bulbs and came across this forum. I'm doing a projector retrofit and I've been reading a lot on www.hidplanet.com and it's a wealth of information. I like the Philips bulbs and they just came out with a new bulb called Crystal Vision. It comes in D2R or D2S and it's 5000K (85122CX). There's also the 6000K Ultinon (85122WX) and the UltraBlue 6000K (85122UB). I know a guy at PIAA who can get me a killer deal on the Super Cobalt, I just didn't know how they compare to the Philips? Sounds like you're all on the right track.
