Default Navigation Dims

My navigation screen dims periodically. Any reason why? Is this a setting that can be changed? I prefer it to be fully illuminated.

I think if you lock your instrument lighting adjustment to full bright, then it will not dim anymore.

keep in mind if you change the instrument lighting to full bright, then the nav will stay at day mode and brightest all the time. that means that night the map will still be a freaking bright white screen rather than dark background

i have mine set that the highest setting just below brightest, so i have the day/night mode activated and it's still bright

believe me, for a while after we got our sc430 i was wondering why the nav was so "bright" at night, until i figure out the instrument setting and change it to one notch below brightest

Wow, this post just came in handy! I just turned my Instrument lights to full bright a few days ago and was wondering WTF happened to my light sensor

I was freaking out for about a week because I was blinded by my Nav at night. I thought for sure something broke until I found this out.
