Default Help... driver side headlight out and water inside light housing

Well, Im 2 months out of warranty and have only 36k on the GS300. The driver side headlight went out and there is apparent water condensation inside the actual lens. Dealer quoted me $1600 for parts and that includes $200 for labor. WTF!

Can I take the lens housing apart and use some silicone sealant to better seal the problem area and throw in a new bulb? I've never even taken the thing apart yet, but I plan on doing this soon though. I've been searching and reading on here for info.

You can try fixing it yourself, if not, look at these:

Im going to attempt to take it apart and seal it myself first. Did some searching here and found some interesting info.

I hate dealing with ebay.

I have the same philosophy myself, I always try fixing things firts, and if I can't, then I replace it.

I am sure you can just add sealant around the edge of headlights, otherwise I'm sure you can just take it apart by putting it in the oven and resealing it. Won't hurt to try and oem bulbs should not cost that much. Good luck!

Only problem is you need to drop the bumper I think ?? May be alot of work. Either way, I would get a new bulb and see that it works and nothing else is wrong. YOu can swap right to left to be sure....once you know that is the case, make a day of it and take it apart, seal it well and hope for the best...worse case scenario you can get a used one and call it a day

The 300 I just bought had the same problem in the lot before delivery. I made sure that they were aware of it and they had to fix it before delivery. They told me they were going to replace the assembly. There was no water in there when I picked it up (and it had just been washed), but the headlight did not look "brand new" so I'm not sure what happened. It seems like a common problem. On my car it was the passenger side.

If it ever happens again you can bet that I will be back there bothering the hell out of them.

Well, the car has been sitting in the garage for 2 days and I haven't had any time to work on it. Just for fun I turned the car on and turned on the light... and they both work! So the bulb is ok, just must be something with the water interferring with it all.

There is still a ton of water all over the inside of the lens, so Ill have to get to it soon with some silicone. Hopefully these lenses can be taken apart and sealed.
