ISS Performance Starts R&D for GS exhaust
#31
Damn!!! I am loving the insanely quiet cabin since I removed the exhaust. The coolest thing is that the car feels much more responsive and quick, not because it actually is but because the car accelerates so damn readily and you hear nothing. Before the Tanabe used to drone like a mother just to casually pass a car on the freeway. Unless I have a turbo car I will probably never do another exhaust system.

Well we have been able to make power and still keep the car quite like in our QES Street System for the IS-F. We also didn't have any drone in the street system as we did in the track system so I do understand what you guys are talking about and we think we can make it happen. Keep the comments coming they are really useful!

Sounds too good to be true!
I want:
1. Quality material
2. No drone at any rpm level with just a bit of added noise when accelerating (I had a TRD muffler on my Highlander and that was the best muffler ever). Keep it reasonablely quiet
3. Minimum 4" muffler tips. Prefer single round tip on each side of the vehicle and extend about 1" pass the OEM bumper surface (good for the rear bumper lip bodykit)
4. Axle back design and keep the mufflers oval shape like the OEM for better verticle clearance
5. Make sure no power reduction at the low RPM. I don't need additional power from ISS mufflers.
6. Undercut your major competitor's price (Tanabe Medalion)

yes yes yes make it sound like a ls1 motor. I do not want it to drown like every ricer civic out there. When I pound on the gas the car should come alive You folks should make a full exhaust model and a axle back model I would like to see nice big tips to fill the rear bumper exhaust holes up and even see pipe in 3 inch diameter.

Hey Janoy, you gotta look at it like this:
1. More people will buy the rear section due to cost
2. People hunting for HP would have bought the 460
3. Half of people don't want the noise, half do
4. Everyone wants nice pans and decent sized tips
I want:
1. No noise, but that won't happen. So a little bit of noise
2. Tips that will clear my rear lip
3. Shiny pans and tips (Ti tips would be a plus) I think the tanabe pans are ugly as fck due to the position, I rather scrap the pan then offset it high to prevent them from scrapping on a parking block
Now, I don't speak for everyone but it should be a general start to your research. Maybe when we hook up for our project you can measure where the exhaust pan starts to the end of the rear lip, since all of CL has a lip kit now from the recent closeout L-Tuned had. LOL

The exhaust systems are not the same? I would think the drivetrain is different but not in the back portion. But then again, I don't know much when it comes to AWD.

I wish I could get 2 small oval tips on each side. Maybe I will see what the local muffler shops can do to change the tips. I have to admit the stock tips dont look bad after you get used to them. I just wish the diameter was another 3/4".

Not enough market for them to do it.

that would be great. for me, HP gain would be the number one reason to buy this. looks and sound can be gotten by changing mufflers and tips - spending $800 or more for a cat back or full exhaust system that gains 1-3HP is asinine imo. as kyang said, don't forget us AWD guys. lol.

I accept with information:some people will say they want power and loud, but some will say they want quiet and prefer the look. who want power would want cat back for more performance, whereas those for look would settle for axle back since they are usually cheaper.
