Default Got Rear Ended :'(

I was in an unfortunate accident a few days ago where I got rear ended. The left side rear bumper was crushed along with the sensors. Ofcourse, the other guys insurance is going to cover everything but how can i asure all the body work is authentic?? Maybe the insurance company persuades the dealership to install crap material due to their cheapness . I dunno, i think i am paranoid but this is my first accident. I still feel sorry for my 460. She didnt deserve this
Also, I heard that the after sale value gets affected?? Even if a new authentic bumper is placed, shud the resale value get lower??

yes the resale of the car will drop because it was in an accident. thats just the way it is. take it to a good body shop and let them handle it. they should get everything you need and not cheap out.

Sorry to hear about the damage. Hope nobody was hurt.

The resale value is usually affected, yes. Some states have an insurance requirement called "diminished value." You should find out if yours is one of those states. If so, be prepared to dicker/negotiate with the insurance company.

On one of our cars, a Nissan, the insurance company offered us about $700 in diminished value to compensate you for the lowered value of the vehicle after the repair. After about 14 months of haggling, we settled on $3,000. It was a matter of patience and showing them we didn't need the money right away, rather we wanted to be compensated for the diminished value of the vehicle in the marketplace due to the accident.

beware of the shops that are backed by the insurance company. My brother just had a little accident and had to send the car back twice because the work was so shotty. Becareful because everyone is trying to cut corners to make more money. everyone

I took it to the dealership. Where I live, the insurance company states that during the first 3 years, cars shud be fixed in the dealership, and after that, any regular body shop. It has been only 3 months for my car, so ofc, it should be fixed in the dealership, where should be the best place.

Sorry to hear about the accident. I know that sickening feeling. Hopefully you had a scratch or two on that bumper anyways.

I think it's a wise move to go to Lexus with it; they're probably less likely to cut corners and should know your car better than anyone else. Make sure the new paint matches. Have them do it over unless it looks good in full sun as well as artificial light.

most dealerships don't do the actual body work...just an FYI...

sorry to hear about your accident...hopefully wherever you take it will get it back to new.

The Toyota Dealership in my country is known for its paint work. It is the best, where most other dealerships bring cars to our Toyota. Hopefully they live up to their reputation and do a great job on my car.

You should take it to a Lexus bodyshop. Where I live there is one Lexus dealer which has its own bodyshop which only does Lexus cars. They have some sort of certificate on the wall from Lexus showing they are compliant with Lexus' standards of excellence.

I had a very minor bumper scratch caused by a small stone hitting my bumper. It only required repainting bumper and remounting the park sensors. The Lexus bodyshop did an amazing job - looks like new, and still uses the original bumper so I can say nothing has been replaced. Also didn't need to paint anything else other than the bumper because they did a phenomenal paint matching job.

Some shops paint over the fenders or the hood to blend. This diminishes the cars value. Only a Lexus shop can avoid this through advanced paint matching.
