Exclamation GS450h Remote Start Questions

Hey guys I was wondering what kind of solutions there are for a remote start in the GS450h. I have a 2007 and was looking to get one.

I was told that if I installed the remote start I would always have to use the keyfob to start the car.

I then came accross this: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=5503

Would this work in my 07 GS450h? Just want to see what others have done.

Thanks,
Matt

lexus offers an accessory for remote start as described above. That would be fine.

Alternatively you can buy a Viper remote start system. Then you can start the car from anywhere.

Have there been any complications with this device? I would hate to have problems on the gs.

With the viper, can I just start the car and use the factory fob (keyless) to enter the warmed up vehicle and go keylessly (fobless).

My understanding is that you can definitely go fobless i.e. the Viper smartphone app can control locks as well as ignition. You can also continue to use the factor fobs (although you should ask a Viper dealer to validate this last part).

The Viper system is essentially a wireless data activated connection, so it has 2 drawbacks (i) increases draw on battery; (ii) monthly fee.

I think they also make a non wireless version which just works with a remote control, but if you're doing that you may as well just get the Lexus one.

The lexus one will not have the same range or the added benefit of a 2 way pager alarm, the app for the iphone is an additional module and not mandatory to have. I have a compustar remote start/alarm w/ a 2 way pager and absolutely love it. Nothing like getting in a cool car in the summer and a warm on in the winter. I have had mine for 2 years and not had a problem. I have the older model of this alarm on my maxima it has worked fine for 5 years. It does require you to keep an additional fob I just keep them on the same key ring. There are 2 bypasses modules required one for the brake and another for the push button these will most likely cost you additionally as they did me. Good luck!

I am going to have Best Buy install a remote start on my lexus. The extra key is small with just the one button to start the car. I'd just put it on the key chain with the smart key. It is going to run about $375 total, does anybody know if there are better options or does this sound like a good price for this feature. I live in a state that is COLD in the winter and HOT in the summer so I see the value but want to know if there is a better deal or if this is even doable. I'd hate to have Best Buy start the installation and come back and say I need even more parts and the price will go up.

Has anybody tried to add up the wasted gas from starting a car and leaving it running for a while just for the sake of having it warm/cool when you get in?

There is a law here that states that you cannot leave your car idling for longer than 3 minutes. If a cop catches you doing it, ticket time. Last I heard, they were thinking about reducing it to 1 minute.

Either way, it's a small luxury but a big waste over the long term in my mind. That being said, my parents used to do it all the time in the winter when I was a kid, leave the sucker running in the driveway with the keys in for even 10 minutes or more all the time.

Despite the socialist regime - America still has a few freedoms, and one of them is that you are free to consume too much petrol as you wish.

Personally I sympathize with those who want to heat up their cars, but burning gas to cool it down when you can just open the windows seems a bit over the top to me.

I like that not a bad price, I've never heard of it but then again I don't drive my car in the winter, I like the Viper kit but I feel as though I would be unsafe unlocking my car and not sure if it was opened or closed.
