I noticed that my AFS is only turning left...when I straighten out from a left hand turn I can see the lights straighten back up, but when I straighten out after a right hand turn I dont see the lights move at all, so I assume they are never turning to the right to begin with. Anyone else ever have this problem, they are supposed to turn both ways correct? Funny thing is this...the dealer just replaced my left hand headlamp assembly about a month ago after the seal went bad and the light stopped working.

The Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) helps illuminate more of the road in a turn. In a left-hand turn, the left headlamp will pivot up to 15 degrees (the right-hand headlamp remains pointed straight ahead) and in a right-hand turn, the right headlamp will pivot up to 5 degrees (the left-hand headlamp remains pointed straight ahead).

What Kevin said makes sense....now that I think about it, I do the see the right light turn, just not as much. I make morel eft hand turns in and out of my neighborhood which is why I see the left lamp turning so much and notice it more. Thanks for the input Kevin.

Its going to turn less to the right because we sit on the left side of the car and already get a larger viewing angle from that side. So the left swing will be larger

My relative has an ES350 2007 year. His AFS is so sensitive and bright that when he swings his steering wheel either way while moving, I can see the lights moving. on my 06 GS300, I barley see any activity from the AFS. Took it to the dealer and they said they hooked it up to the computer and the lights are moving fine. Can they be moving fine while on the computer but not as fine during actual driving? Also, I think our HID projectors must be not quite as clear as the ES models.

One way to check the right head light AFS is to park in front of the garage with garage door closed, of course do this at night and your head lights on. Make a reference point on the garage door with the front wheels straight then starting to turn the steering wheel to all the way right. You should see the front right head light to move even just slightly.

i don't know exactly about other cars, but the projectors on my ls460l did swing more than my gs350.

That's right. AFS is only turning the light while moving faster than a certain speed. I think between 15-20 mph.
