Default Best Winter Tire?

Just wanted to know what winter tires people are driving on (I've already used the search function). I was thinking of getting the Michelin X-Ice 2s as I had these on my other car but I found out that the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3s are better suited for the GS3 AWD due to the speed rating as well as performance...is this true? Any experience with Nokians? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm rolling with Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3s on the GS AWD and they are great. Not only is the traction good in wet and snow, they are pretty quiet for snow tires.

Hi guys I have an 09 GS 350 AWD and I live outside of Toronto, ON and was wondering if we didn't get much snow this winter if the factory sport tires on my car could get me through the winter. Will just the cold temperatures alone cause my Dunlop sport to loose trackson?

Also if I do purchase the Michelin Alpin PA's do I have to put rims on them or can use the black ugly things that the tire comes with as I didn't want to have to take apart my factory rims or buy new ones just yet.

Hey, i'm not 100% sure, but I think that the cold weather does affect the performance of regular non-winter tires due to the compound that they are made with...I believe the cold weather causes them to lose traction...maybe someone else can provide some more feedback on this. Regarding the rims, i'm pretty sure you can just use the black winter rims which are usually recommended.

I have a set of the PA3s on my stock 17" rims and it was the best winter modification I have done. Absolutely love these tires.

Yes I also recommend the Michelin PilotSport Alpin PA3. Don't have snow tires in Florida, but I have driven these in Germany and I think they are amazing.

I also have these: Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3s. On my 2nd winter with them and no complaints! I am running mine on the OEM 18" rims.

I have Bridgestone BLIZZAKS LM-25's on 19 inch rims. I live in Colorado and go snowboarding every week. No problems at all. I kill I-70 and those Audi's, yeah they keep up. The LM-25's are on sale everywhere because the LM-60 is the new model. I got my Lm-25's for $205 for all four - mounted and balanced.

^ I had the LM-25 on my last car. Good tire also and they are less expensive then the Michelin. I could have save a lot of $$ but opted to try the latest greatest.
