Hey guys I am coming up on 50 k in the next 4-5 months and I will be needing the extended warranty. Another member already gave me some info but it accidentally got erased. I was wondering where people are buying them and for what price. The local dealership wants to charge me 2300 dollars but I heard I can get it for around 13-1400 dollars. Please let me know if you guys know where to get a Lexus extended warranty for less money

Extended warranty on the GS is a terrible deal considering how long the base warranty is and how expensive the extended warranty is. If you did the math and still want to buy it, I believe the cheapest place is from

Troy runs a Web site that sells deeply discounted extended warranties for Toyota, Lexus, VW, etc. I got quotes for my GS, and his was the lowest I could find anywhere. It was still ridiculously high considering it would only cover extra 2-3 years once manufacturer's warranty expires.

I did end up buying a VW extended warranty for my parents' Passat. Now that policy is a fantastic deal given that it starts at the manufacturer's warranty expiration date and goes for another 6 years for a total 10 year coverage for only $1,500. And given how breakage-prone Passat is compared to the GS.

There is a difference between a member trying to save 50 dollars on a basic service and losing the loaner car, wash, and convienience vs saving 1200 dollars on a warranty that will cover at the Lexus dealership that I will only take my car to.

Seriously though be careful with those off brand extended warranty companies alot of them only offer a certain amount of coverage per warranted part, in other words if your engine blows up they ll only be obligated to pay say $3500.00 for a motor that cost $6500.00 and you ll have to eat that additional cost or get a junkyard part. (don t quote me on the #'s i used i was speaking hypathetically!!! I went through this back in the day with a small used car lot with one of those extended warranty companies and got screwed

To clarify: Troy only sells the original manufacturer's extended warranty contracts, not the third-party warranties.

for reference, I got quotes of $1665 and $2165 for 7yr/75k and 7yr/100k Platinum warranties w/ $0 deductible. This was a month or two back on a 2006 GS430 w/ 28k miles.

If you really think about it, it's more like infinity. They are only selling you a promise. My Toyota had an ECP and it didn't do me a lick of good. Anything that went wrong was never covered.

I am uncertain on whether to buy a extended warranty on my 3GS. Currently has about 43,500 miles. I have a few months & miles to think about it. It's kind of like a (limited) insurance policy on the car. I understand reliability, but the cost of the electronic repairs alone in these cars scares the cr%& out of me...

You got that right. The GS is fully of computers and electronics. $1600 will not go a long way when it comes to repairs.
