I myself had no choice but to go with the V8 since we do not have 350s here -,-, only 300s. However, even if there was a 350, id still go with the 460 just because its a V8 and due to the better brake system and suspension.
Yeah the 460 is nicest of the line up. Id take a 460 over a 350 for the more refined V8 and 8 speed gearbox. If the op has the option of getting a 460 id say get that over the 430.

another main reason is that in 2007 gs430 very quickly became an order only vehicle, lexus only produced gs350 and gs450h on a "regular" basis. that was the year they phased out the 430 setup

For people who interest in the mp3 streaming. The Nokia N900 (also called the Nokia tablet with phone capability) has the built-in FM transmitter, so you can stream your mp3 direct from your phone without any physical wiring connection (ie. aux cable...).

Now, back to the OP. You need to drive both cars and have the feel for yourself. If you like the sport experience and power at any moment notice, the gs430 is the right one. Now, if it's just DD, soft feel driving, the gs350 is perfect. Just my 2cents.

You have a more sport feel when drive in this mode, less of that soft floating feel. And of course the big V8 with that extra growl when you hit the gas pedal.
For me, I'm all V8 for life. It's a luxury car so V8 is neccessary, imho.
About mp3 concern, if you have the Nokia N900, it's bluetooth connected, so no need for physical wire connection. So you won't have problem playing mp3 directly from your phone. I have to admit though, the 07+ gs350 has a better resolution nav system.

mmm im not sure why youre making it sound like the 350 is a pansy slow car. It beats the 430 in the quarter mile. I mean yeah if you see yourself going around every corner screeching tires then yeah the better suspension will help but if thats the case i'd recommend just getting coil overs on either car. I do agree that the op should test drive both and decide for himself because thats the opinion that matters.

ive searched all the diffrent threads, after i posted and the variety of answers in this thread is most helpful.

today the insurance company officially totaled the car

tomorrow i will be going around looking at both models, but since i drive almost 30k miles a year i think the 350's better MPG might be better for me.. wish me luck and thanks for all the great advice/comments in such short time, this is why i love CL forums!

Drive them both and listen....you can hear the engine quite a bit in the 350 vs the 430 or 460...The only thing I can attribute that to is better sound insolation. I do not think the 350 engine is noiser than the v8- so what else COULD IT BE ???

YES, the 350 is actually louder since it is using a DI engine

I got myself 06 GS430 and I could not be more happier. How can anyone compare the sound of the 430 vs 350??? 350 is so much louder, 430 on the other hand is silky smooth and effortless. I had Infiniti M35 and it had also 300+ hps and so what? It had to rev very hard to go fast and was very loud.

Also, if you are buying a car you should think about engine, transmition, brakes, mpg, resale value, repair cost and NOT about the Nav screen and if it looks a little better. Most of the NAV systems are obsolete compare to phones and stand alone GPSs.

Just my .02, good luck.
