Knocking noise??? Any idea...need help
Guys...I have a knocking noise that is so annoying every time i drive over a bump or make a sharp turn. The noise is coming from the rear. The noise sounds like something is moving around or rolling around. I took everything out of my trunk ( even the spare tire ) and still hear the noise. Anybody have a clue? Could it be my suspension on the rear? My car is out of warranty. Will the dealer charge me if i bring it in for them to diagnose the issue? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Dealer will charge the standard 1 hour of labor as a diagnostic fee for just about anything. If you really have to bring it in for diagnosis I usually wait until I can compile quite a comprehensive list of problems for them to check out.
To answer your question, I had the same problem ages ago on a POS Ford Taurus (my how I've grown). I was able to easily diagnose and fix it myself, but I have no idea if it applies to our cars - I have not actually examined the suspension back there.
What it was in my case, was that the linkage attaching the wheel arm to the stabilizer bar (which ran all the way across to the other side) on one side had rusted through allowing the stabalizer bar to bang loosely whenever going over anything bumpy or doing a decent turn. The solution was to simply replace the linkage and bushing by jacking up that corner and removing one or two bolts after compressing the suspension with the jack after putting the car on axle stands. I think I paid all of $10 or so for the part.
Take a look under the car and check your linkages and bushings. If you just press down with your weight on the rear corners of the car can you reproduce the knock?
The part in question in this photo is the piece immediately behind the calipers. The small vertical piece with a bushing on top and bottom.

Also works for diagnosing problems with wood chippers.
