that would be awesome for the summers in AZ to turn the AC on and cool off the interior. I just wonder about messing with an ignition system like the one we have in the Lex. I usually just drop the windows as I approach using the key fob

If I understand correctly how these systems work, they require that ignition immobilizer feature be disabled, making your car more vulnerable to theft.

I've run across those units occasionally on eBay, they look like a remote start you might find at Wal-mart. The EZstarter is really just a generic remote start that they tag different Lexus models in. The auction also doesn't include the necessary smart key bypass you'd need.

If you want a good remote start unit I would look into the Viper 5301 for remote start only or the Viper 5701/5901 if you want a remote start with an alarm.

Also, no remote start is plug n' play, so unless you have a good understanding of how to install a remote start, that's a job best left for the pros.

If the proper smart key bypass is used, the immobilizer feature will remain untouched.

this is a generic unit that has nothing special to tap into a Lexus, it is not plug and play in any way

Y not just use your remote to roll down the window? That'll be much faster than AC to cool down the car.

Rolling down the windows do not work that quickly unless it's a windy day, or the car is moving at a rapid pace. Imagine you're sitting in a restaurant by the windows, and you want to cool down your car before you come out. 1) Remote start will give you a much longer range than your key fob to roll down the windows. 2) Your alarm is still active, and all windows are up so you don't risk losing anything.

I have had 2 vipers before on my previous cars, and the remote start worked perfectly, but at $350 a pop instead of $60. I am thinking that you'll get what you pay for though, but was just wondering if anyone has actually tried these out, and share your personal experience. Thanks.

wouldnt this require you to carry two key fobs? Would you be able to keep the smart key features or would you lose them to this key fob? I dont really like the idea of carrying around two key fobs for one car just more unnecessary bulk in my pockets.
