'06 gs300 w/mark levinson & navi. Whats best way to play dvds&mp3s
What is my best option to play dvds and listen to mp3's from a cd or a usb stick. the dvds would be on discs, songs on disc [dvd disc] or usb stick.
What is my best option in your opinon? I do not want to change the headunit.

you have ml, so you can play dvd videos already (in dvd format)
mp3, you are out of luck, coz' 06 doesn't do that, so cd/dvd is not a good option for you. usb, you can do vaistech vml or grom, though in another thread seems like grom has some firmware issues

grom is definitely cheaper. i don't have it so i can't say much. the other thread has more insight to it

GROM is cheap and it works, but it still has some quirks that we're hoping that they can provide a solution to. As I posted, I have had some initial success with using a usb device that didn't come supplied with the unit so it MAY be something to do with the usb device compatibility itself and not the unit power.
For an 06, the VML unit provides a lot of functionality that you can't take advantage of. The main benefit of VML is that it has CD-MP3 emulation so you can browse by file but 06 head unit doesn't support it. So long as GROM can fix the usb startup problems with the 3GS I think it's the best choice for an 06. If I had an 07+ I would just bite the bullet and get the VML.
