apsss is standard on all 2010 450h and 460 in canada. in the usa, it is still an option i believe.

that's exactly why it's not worth it to you. where does it say semi aniline leather is 8500? that sounds like a lot?

It's an option only...and a rare one at that. I don't think it's really worth it for the price...and the loss of a physical spare tire.

Does it also have its own battery? First time I've seen a picture of it. Thanks for posting that.

Yeah it's nice, but if you're running AVS in Sport with runflats, its pretty flat anyway.

APSSS = active power stabilizer suspension system. they are electronic sways that provide great handling, especially when going into turns.

apsss is easily the best handling option you can get from factory. if there is such an option for the gs350 i would have asked for it for sure (don't care about avs at all)

I hope you're right, but my authorised Lexus dealer says otherwise.

Look at the E350 vs E550... 268 hp vs. 382 hp?!

New 5 series, 306 hp vs. 407 hp?!

Yeah sure the semi-aniline other "options" are nice but they don't beat the straight-line in-your-face performance that you and your passengers can feel.

Imagine if the 3GS only came in GS300 with 245 hp vs. GS460 with 342 hp (which is a similar power difference between the German counterparts). Which one would you buy? and would the power difference alone justify the price difference? Probably more like so.
Agreed - Lexus screwed up by neutering the GS 460 to 340 hp from the LS's 380. They could have made a really nice "Sport" package on the GS with the power of the 380 hp engine. I never have understood that. Sure, they might not want to show up the more expensive LS, but the reality is that its a different animal - its a kinder, gentler Lexus.

A friend of mine drove a LS460 and GS350 back to back and told me the GS is much more responsive and better handling - actually faster than the LS (and that the 350!)

Batman, you have the APSS option. Please tell us, is it smooth on straight away and only stiffens up when making turns?

APSS doesn't do anything for straight line or smoothness. It does help in cornering. The system is designed to basically electronically preload the sway bar in a hard cornering situation allowing the reduction of body roll and pitch.

on the gs450h i have driven with apsss, that's the case. which is a great thing to have, because usually having thick / strong sway bars will eventually cause harshness in the ride (just look at 2gs with the trd sways) even on normal roads. but the apsss is awesome coz' when you are going straight, setting is "soft" so it's a lot more forgiving. but when you start to take harder and harder turns, the apsss will tighten things up more and more to counter the roll

awesome setup
