Are GS 460's not popular?

In regards to the new GS350 being faster than my 02 GS430...according to Lexus, the GS350 rwd car does 0-60 in 5.7 and the awd in 5.8. That is right on target with the GS430. Once you start talking after 60 mph, I guarantee you the V8 will pull much harder than the V6 in the quarter mile and everything thereafter. Either way it doesn't matter as our GS430 is 8 years old. Its best to compare it to a 98-05 GS300. If I were to buy a 10 GS460, there would be a greater difference between it and the V6.
It looks like I will be giving up speed on our next addition as my wife wants a new 10 GX460 or 10 LR4. Oh well.

The IS-350 IS is, or at least seems, SIGNIFICANTLY faster than the GS-350. My wife has an IS-350 and I am in a GS-350 for the weekend (dealer demo car) and there seems to be a night and day difference in performance. Her's is seemingly so much more responsive. I can only guess that it is geared diffently...??? IMHO the GS-350 seems under-powered. I wish I has a GS-460 to test drive this weekend... Definitely strange since the weight difference is less than 300 pounds....

Rominl - what you say about 450h is true, however in my experience of aggressive driving around town, the battery runs out. With the V8 the torque is endless.

Yes that was a really dumb decision by Lexus and it is the kind of behaviour that makes me worry about Lexus's standards. If they put the direct injection V8 with 380hp and had offered a sport package on the GS460, it would have been without question the king of $60-70k sports sedans from 2008-2010. Pipped only by the 2011 BMW 550i.

Batman - Hello from near Houston, Texas. If you have time today, would you mind calling me at 832-741-7802 as I would really appreciate talking to you about your 460 - it performance, highway gas mileage, etc. I am currently driving a GS350 demo for the weekend and find it "no so fun to drive". Perhaps I should not be comparing it to my wife's IS-350 which is FUN to drive as it performs so well. Just wonder if there is a real difference between the GS460 and GS350. Also curious how many RPMs it turns at, say, 70 MPH.
THANK YOU, Jeff...

I noticed something weird with the LS and GS here in the Gulf. First of all, we do not have the DI LS460 out here, so they opted with the GS460 engine. However, I noticed that the engine of the LS and the GS is different for some reason... My friends LS has a twin intake engine, while me GS has only one?? Even though they are supposed to share the same engine..... Any reason why this is the case?

What are you basing this on? I've owned 450h for 3 years, I've a very aggressive driver and I have NEVER had the battery run out on me. Maybe you're confusing aggressive driving on the streets with the auto trek.

I have to agree. The only times I really see the battery get low is in all electric driving in traffic or parking lots. I have never had a moment when I demanded power and I was stuck with the measly 290hp.
