5-10 minutes before your idle drops down below 1k?! That is a long time dang...

I timed the warm-up, and it took 10 minutes before the idle RPM dropped from 1k to 650-750. The car was pushing warm air out from the heater, and the thermostat was about a third of the way up (directly in the middle when reaches normal operating temp), after about 4-5 minutes.
