Default Wheel Gurus - 18 ISP Mode Fitment on AWD.

Just looking for a little reassurance from people that have a bit more experience with wheels on these cars.

Lexus dealership sold me 4 ISP Mode wheels which according to Sewell have +50 offset. They told me they checked with their techs and told me that I shouldn't have any fitment issues. What worries me is that no GS fitment according to Lexus officially has 8.5s on the front wheels.

Now it's just a .5 inch difference, and I know a lot of you have much larger wheels on your cars but you may have had to do other things to make them fit properly. I really don't want to have to do anything other than stick them onto the hubs and go. They will take them back if I'm uncomfortable with it, but I'd rather not be too worried about it if it's probably just fine as I got them at quite a discount - probably because they only had the 8.5s and wanted to clear them out.

I plan on putting 245/40/18s on, which is a bit less wide than the standard size that they say to put on the rims for rear fitment of 255. I'm not getting them because I just want larger of fancier wheels, mostly I was just looking for new OEM style wheels that aren't so chewed up as the previous owner of my car curbed every single wheel quite bad and all of them are suffering from the seemingly common problem of finish peeling and bubbling so overall the factory 17s on there just look like garbage and will become my winter wheels next year.

Am I just being paranoid?

don't worry, 8.5 +50 is perfect ok for his car. and personally i would also do 245 all around. i don't like 255 tires on 8.5 wheels

i guess if anything it's to make sure the wheels clear the calipers up front. as long as that's the case, those offsets you have nothing to worry about

looking on lexus site, it's listed under IS and didn't say it's only for is250. so i assume it will fit under is350 and that means ok for gs350 too

Thanks for the advice, I feel better about it now. The last thing I want is to have spent all sorts of money on something that would give me problems.

Hopefully the ISP Mode wheels have a more durable finish than the stock 17s. They definitely look a lot sharper (at least in the boxes). Nothing makes me frown more than the plain jane 17s that look like they've been to war after I've polished the car and the rest of it looks great.

I'll probably end up putting Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires on them, will just go for all seasons even though they will be 3 season tires at the end of the day for durability sake (and so I don't have to stress too much about getting the snows on before the foul weather strikes). They seem to be pretty highly regarded tires for the price.

I saw someone just created another thread about this tonight! Yes, they are that bad. They are bubbling and flaking on all four rims. It's particularly bad around the center caps and on the inside of the spokes.

Lexus wouldn't do anything about it since it was just out of comprehensive warranty, at the end of the day I didn't care because I planned on using the rims for winter anyway. I've looked at other GS's on the lots and a lot more of them, as well as IS that I've seen have the same problem. I never had this issue with my previous Toyota or even a Ford I owned a long time ago!

wow, this is weird. did it start a while ago or you think it has something to do with the winter salt?

either way, not good

I think it's partly winter salt and partly lots of hot brake dust and an inferior finish on those wheels.

ic, definitely sounds like flaw to me. i can see salt being not good to the finish, but all bubbling up, that just doesn't sound right. it's like saying after one winter all lexus wheels in snowing areas would look like crap
