great info, thanks vaistech. doesn't even support gen 5 browsing? that's beyond wasteful especially for newer cars

I absolutely agree, if what vaistech posted is factually accurate. It contradicts this product description:

Just to be clear: I'm not suggesting that vaistech is bending the truth. Just wondering if there's more to this that he doesn't know. Maybe the TOYPD2 resellers have upgraded the firmware, for example.

 

On Gen 5 Nav systems with SL2i-UP you can browse not only by playlist / song within playlist, but also by artist, album, etc.

 

Can we browse while the car is moving from the screen?

 

These guys are on unauthorized dealer list. And they didn't buy a single unit from us, and the only way to get the updated firmware is from us.

 

you can see the current song and folder info, but not browsing through all the folders. you can do the wire hack or get the ps kit

 

If you have the Prestigious Society kit you can browse and select with ease. It works very very well.

If this other kit doesn't have expanded browsing then its not very good.

 

Just wanted to post an update.

I have confirmed that the TOYPD2 unit sold for $129 by one of the big Ebay sellers contains older firmware version that does not support enhanced browsing on Gen 5 navigation systems (browsing by artist, album, genre, etc.). Fortunately the seller is honest, and refunded my money upon request.

I ended up buying a VAIS SL2i-UP unit on Ebay for $199 from an authorized reseller.
