Default rim bending. 22s vs 20s

I have a question. I had 22s on my old gs, I bent them pretty good with a 245/30/22 tire at the front, thats pretty much the biggest tire you can stuff in the front.

now I was thinking of doing 20" with a 245/35/20 tire on awd gs300.

Do you think It would make a huge difference vs the 22" rim @ 245/30/22 or will I still bang up the 20s.

your opinions. thanks

it really depends a lot on your driving habit and how careful you drive. i had 22s (similar tires) on my ls460l, never had any problem. i have similar tires on my 20s now, never a problem

but if driven not carefully, i have seen 18s or 19s getting bent

Yeh its more on how careful you are when driving. Also it helps to have a nice strong 3 piece wheel, but even those can bend.
