Same here, you can actually see the AFS in action more dramatically.

no, not necessary. for example the ls430 (04-06) and the sc430, they are widely regarded as some of the best hid projectors out there. the s2000 actually uses the same projectors, but there is a metal piece inside which causes all the optics reflection. that piece makes the s2k headlights give out a lot more flickering than the ls430/sc430 ones.

but in terms of coverage and performance they are pretty much the same.

i personally don't see much problem with the light output from my gs350 vs say my m3. now i definitely see a degrade on the newer lexus as a whole (ls460, 3gs, 2is, etc...) that's partly because all the new hid has moved to the d4s bulbs, which i believe has less mercury and doesn't perform as well as the previous d2s

I have an 06 3gs and it uses d4s and the output is rediculous

I see no difference from my IS350 to my GS. Could just be the fact the IS has newer HID bulbs then your GS? This is one thing I have not been happy with in both of my Lexus vehicles. I get in my wife's car and its night & day difference from my Lexus. HID's in the fogs has helped out a little bit. I was considering a retro fit but I hardly drive the car at night time so just doesn't seem worth the hassle.

retrofit the HIDs or fogs? if HIDs to what? I wonder if swapping the bulbs and ballasts to d2s would improve things?

^I was going to have one of our vendors retrofit projectors into the fog light housing to help its pattern. I had also considered swapping the OEM projectors for TSX ones if it was possible. Many of the 2gen GS owners seem to go with the projectors from the Infinity.

Whats interesting is that the HID on both of my Lexus the HID bulb is inserted sideways. My other vehicles its been a straight shot into the headlight assembly. I always wondered what affect this may have?

Best HID lighting I have had in any car was from Acura in the older gen TL and TSX. My Wife has the new TSX and its still much better. We drove back on the expressway from picking my car up last night and I was comparing how much of a difference there was. If I did more night time driving I would play around with it more.

if you swap our projectors and ballast to the d2s setup from ls430 or sc430, you are going to be very happy those cars are great on light performance (with ls430 slightly better)

infiniti projectors are just ok. the q45 one is more of a show than better performance

s2k, tsx, ls430, sc430, those are great projectors

im sure swapping out projectors will be the best way to go but if not done right it will ruin your AFS. I want to retrofit a projector into my foglights but have not found anyone in this forum who can do it.

^ here you go

I was going to have my fogs done by them also. All you have to do is remove the whole unit and send it to them. I would be curious to see your thoughts if you do this.

I'm more than positive it is not the headlight lens. Don't waste your money on that unless your lens is really fogged up. My car is 4 years old and no foggy lenses.

What exactly does "reconditioning" mean?

usually over time some lens will get dull and blurry. those are fixable by sanding, buffing, and polishing the lens back to its original shine. that's what they mean by "reconditioning"

i doubt that's the case here as bigblack06 stated
