Wait a few years and you'll be able to buy a Genesis V8 for something like 20G. Hyundais will keep dropping in resale value like stones until they gain a name for themselves and that will take a long time.

I would have no problem with buying a low mileage genesis if it was super cheap, and calling that my "beater". I would hold out for an AWD variant though, a RWD beater does not compute in this climate.

ice350 > yea people have the right to like other cars.. but why compare that car to a lexus? doesnt make sense to me. its like comparing a super model to a fat chick and arguing that the fat chick is "really nice".

If I am purchasing my GS350 again today, I might give the Genesis a great look. $ for $ the Genesis is difficult to ignore given I don't have that ego of owning a Lexus over Hyundai...

Same reason Lexus was compared to Mercedes 20 years ago. I don't know why you made that comment. They are very comparable. Have you driven one?

I agree, I prefer the GS460, but if I wanted to save some money, I would probably get a Genesis V8. What else is there to downgrade to? The only alternatives are the ES350 and the Lincoln MKS in terms of luxury prices that are lower cost mid-large size luxury cars. The Genesis is better than both the ES and the Lincoln in my opinion. That makes it a compelling buy at its price point.

Of course one can always spend more and get something better: GS460, M56, E550, BMW 550 would all be better sports sedans but cost a lot more.

It's a bit like comparing the 2010 GS460 to the 2011 BMW 550i. The BMW is clearly a better engineered product, but it is worth an extra $12 grand. Well it is to some and not to others.
