Default Thoughts on touchless vs. brush automatic washes??

Which do you guys prefer? In this day and age, is it so bad for brushes to touch the car? Are the soaps maybe too strong in the touchless washes? The touchless is a bit more expensive, but if its worth it, Ill spring the extra few bucks. Thoughts?

Never tried brush washes, but my friends dad got a lot of scratches from it but that is what I was told. I go to touchless wash often and its great, especially in the winter time .

I prefer to wash myself at coin operated bays, imo I think that's the best wash you can ever get only pain is drying the car especially in the winters. Brushes cause scratches unless you go to newer car washes with soft clothes, touchless never get's everything off always leaves some areas uncleaned.

car has never been to a "car wash". hand wash only. it really sucks this time of year, but the investment is worth the effort, and the final results are much better enjoyed.

*can only imagine if a brush car wash was used on my car...with it being a very dark color....scratches all over the place.

Against my better judgement, I went through a soft-cloth wash last year. It left a nasty deep scratch in my hood, which had to be repainted. Obviously not a typical experience, but I won't ever take a chance with a non-touchless again.

I run my GS through a touchless pretty much every time I fill up. They're not perfect, but good enough to get me through to the next proper washing by hand.

touchless would be the way to go. even those self wash bays are no good. those brushes are terrible and think of how many people use them and what could be stuck and in those brushes.

I don't like the tracks but I've never had any issues with soft cloth washes in the past, which is every gas station car wash around here that isn't touchless.

It's not so hard for me to wash by hand even in the winter since I have underground parking and there is a hose hookup down there so I haven't been using them in a while.

I haven't seen a brush or cloth car wash in this area (Northern Virginia) in years. All the ones I see are touchless. I'd never take my car to a brush wash.

Brushless is using soap and pressure spray, it's not as good as the old hand wash. Just make sure you spray all the dirt/salt off before you touch the car with anything else.

I have NEVER ever hand washed a car in my life, and I don't ever expect to do it. Personally, it seems like an incredible waste of time.

I ve been using a soft cloth wash for years with no problem with a black car, I keep it waxed and dry it off myself using fresh microfiber rags and i am constantly complimented on how good my paint looks on my car!!!

My hand car wash place uses boars hair brushes instead of mitts (they claim this is better because mitts retain grime, while boars hair brushes do not). Any thoughts on this?

LOL, this is funny this topic is on here. Just last month I took my car through a "Touch less Car Wash". Machine malfunctioned and the bar that goes around the car spraying soap left a huge gash in my bumper.

Can't complain at least the station paid for the repair.
