Default She's finally quiet!!

Finally, I feel I can do my introduction. Dash rattle is fixed and they did something to the door too to get rid of a squeak. But they scratched the door so they will fix that next week.

Anyways, forum has been very informative. Next mod is the Nav override and VAIS tech Ipod interface. The cheap cassette deck ipod adapter may have to do for now though since it's so much easier...I can't believe lexus has a cassette deck in such a late model car...and also not have a standard ipod adapter.

Welcome and you have a great point on the cassette with no mp3 or ipod interface. I'm only 2 weeks into my 07GS and I'm using a Belkin charger/adaptor with a cassette adaptor. The Belkin unit has a dial for the audio levels which is great since the audio levels are so low for the cassette in our cars.

My plan is also for the VAIS, but one thing at a time.

Cheers-

Black on Black...so desirable but so high maintenance. Wish I had the time to keep a black car.

How's the Belkin? There's one that is authorized or approved by Ipod. The adapter is part of the cassette so not too many wires running all over the place.

Mine is black on black. Interior wise I don't find it hard to keep clean. Exterior, yeah... even sitting in my underground parking for a couple of days not even getting driven it gets a good visible layer of dust and crud on it. Looks amazing after being polished and sealed though. :P

Yeah, interior isn't an issue. I love darker colors like black and graphite because they have the best post-wax shive but it's hard to keep clean. The swirl marks also bother me - don't have time or access to hand wash to avoid swirl marks. Silver is a good compromise to me.

It's amazing how much dust you get from underground garages. I beg the parking attendant to keep the windows closed to keep the dust out. I assured him the doors won't lock with the key inside the car - hopefully that's true. I need to have Lexus to go through key personalization for me.

Swirls are easy to deal with with a once a year spring time go-over with a porter cable and some mild polishing compound. Of course it gets progressively worse again over time but any car, even silver, will show the swirls at angles and nobody ever notices swirls on your car but you anyway. :P

I don't mean anything by this, but I hate silver cars. I don't know, they are like a dime a dozen and I'm not a fan of that "trying to look like metal but I'm really paint" look. I guess it's just because silver is so overdone, particularly in my city for some reason. If hardly anybody had silver cars, I'd probably think differently. It's partly why I like the GS better than the IS, there are hundreds of IS on the road over here (most of them are silver!).
