Default Range

I've pushed past "0 miles" on my approx range several times. I've tiptoed about 10 miles beyond a couple of times. Anyone ever push further, or actually run out of gas?

I dont know how you can do it. I get extremely uncomfortable when the gas light comes on.

yea, it's scary and bad for car/engine

i did a test before, just do some calculation on ur own and you'll see how much gas is left when the number reaches 0

someone i know has gone 30 miles past 0 and still ok

but it's definitely not a good idea. running out of gas can damage the fuel pump, and you don't want to even know how much to get that repaired.

i think it will run for about another 30 miles or so but you should never let it get that low. not good for the car at all.

I've gone almost 30 miles after "0." It's only bad for the car IF you actually run out of gas

If U live in the city and the next gas station is less than 30miles away than it's not so scary. But it is scary when U R in the middle of nowhere like AZ.

I've done about 60miles pass 0 but not recommended of course.

not true. if you get that low, your starting to suck in all the crap thats on the bottom of your tank.

Went 20 miles past...was desperate for gas when I finally came upon a station. Whew! My MB's were spot-on when it comes to gas available...the low-fuel light comes on and you've got 2 gallons left...not so sure about my GS and my truck, and really not interested in finding out!

AZ have lots of desert and I wouldn't like to run out of gas there. And the gas station won't be in walking distance.

That's funny. Probably was thinking about Amado, Arizona which only has 275 people.

Nevada is probably a better example. Wouldn't want to drive past CA/NV state line low on fuel.

That's more of an old wives tale. The fuel lines that run to the fuel pump usually pick up from the bottom of the tank anyway, plus you have a fuel filter that would pick up any of the "crap"

The problem's caused by running out of gas are usually due to the fuel pump dry pumping with no fuel in the system
