Smile Dealer Service, how far have you gone to complain?

Regarding the issue of dashboard rattling, how far have you gone to get the repair right?

I have an 08 350 AWD (of course all that was available in the NE region aside from the V8), and have had the dash taken out to make the repair. I think I have had the windshield clips cut, and some insulation put in. The rattle is recurring with the extreme low temps.

I wanted to see if there was a consensus on how far you have pushed Lexus service. I get a feeling that I am starting to annoy my dealership with my complaint about a stupid rattle. But, hey not only did I spend a large amount, I also paid for the stellar Lexus service. Perhaps with the Toyota recall , they have other things on their mind. Your thoughts are appreciated.

They didn't hesitate to annoy you with the $53K+ price, right?

If the issue only occurs in extreme cold temp I would let it go. I have had that issue with other brands too.

ugh.. don't i feel you.. im passed my warranty but I used to complain 4 times a month about my problems. engine rattle noise, dash rattle, seat creaking and I got the "best" advisers working on it. I got nothing fixed whats worst they made a mess of my interior from leather scratches to dash scratches. Only reason I gave up was my 50k was over and I just finally gave in to the cheapness of it all. I went to 3 dealerships 2 of them didnt even know what the tsb were. Sigh.. Lexus is great but.. service....eh.. there goes my vent.. hahah

Tim, I'm also in PA (the western part) and I have dash rattles when the weather turns bitter too. I've had the car since 08 and this is the 2nd winter. During the first winter, it only rattled when it was bitter cold. Now it rattles when it's below about 45 degrees outside. My service adviser suggested that if it only rattles when it's bitter then leave it alone because tearing the interior of the car apart sometimes creates more problems than it solves. From what i've read here, I think he might be right. For the time being, I just turn up the stereo.....

Thanks. We'll have to compare ownership notes sometime. I do no think I am going to spend 50 k again for a car.

are you having problems at wilkie? ive never had 1 problem at that place and they've always done everything i needed to make sure i was satisfied. If your looking to get your dash rattle fixed let me know. a tech i know works there and i can see if he can get the same guy that did mine to do yours.

Posted this on another thread too:

When I brought my '06 GS3000 AWD in for the 40K service, I asked to have the dash rattles fixed. I had asked previously at the 35K service, and the response was that they could not duplicate the problem. This time, there was a Lexus provided form specifically for this problem. TSB L-SB-004-08 and L-SB-0090-08 were both performed. Now - no more annoying dash rattles, squeaks, rubs. Of course, now I hear the other little rattles in the car, but it is much better now, even in the cold weather.

So, check with the dealer and ask about the TSBs.
