gs350 vs gs430

Also a 430 owner and have to say the MPG is really good.
I also like the engine noise although that would not be a dealbreaker..
as for as long lasting .. I am guessing it would be pretty much a wash.
If the nav screens are both the newer version, I would get a 430 over a 350 but dont really have a good reason why, for the average joe, they are ver y similar cars...
MPG will be a wash .. resell .. I sold my last 2g 430 for 14k w 175k miles on it in 2006, it was 8 years old ..
resell will not be an issue regardless, too nice of a car and too reliable ..

All GS350 and GS430 are identical inside and out. The only thing you will see differently is that the GS430 has AVS (Adaptive Variable Suspension) standard. Instead of the coin slot next to your traction and ECT PWR buttons, it's a button for AVS - NORM and SPORT.

My 2 cents
Hi, I got an 06 GS430 a month back. Test drove a couple of 350s as well. Actually a friend has an 08GS350 that I compared mine with. I have to say I am very happy that I got the V8. The variable suspension is definitely important to me and I enjoy some spirited driving the sport mode now and then. The Lexus V8 is more smooth and quite than the V6. It could be the tires, but I think overall the car feels smoother and quieter than the V6. as far as as MPGs go, I really dont have to push the RPMs that high on the V8. I get about 19 city and believe it or not 28~29 (with AC on) on the highway on my inter-city trips. I would say the V6 would sell easier but at the same time you get a much better deal on a used V8.

GS350 it come's AWD, also cheaper owning would be GS350 because i think all the V8 come with timing belt instead of timing chain like the GS350. Someone confirm the Timing belt part. Timing belt cost like over $1k to do every 90k miles, so yea i would take the GS350.

There are certain repairs or maintenance performed on a v-8 that will cost more due to a crowded engine bay (ac parts) but overall the v-8 would be something I would swing towards everything else being equal.
I miss my 400 growl in my 2gs. These are time tested engines and proved to be bulletproof.

The "430 vs. 350" debate tends to be a "pepsi vs. coke" debate. You really need to "taste" each to decide for yourself... spend a decent amount of time in each and you will know the answer for you alone. There is no substitute for getting behind the wheels of these cars... they definitely have a different "feel". Both are excellent.

With a 430, you get to tell people it's a V8. :P I've never owned a V8 but I'd like to, just because. Technology wise, the 430 engine is very old and was used on the 2GS for a long time. It's been pretty much proven to be bullet proof and for that reason I would give the 430 a nod for long term reliability over the newer V6s.
I am also weary of direct injection requiring slightly pricy overhauls at high mileage to clear out gunk around intake valves. I'm hoping that somebody comes up with an improved engine flush system that can somehow address the dry void above the intake valves on DI engines. Certainly, there is financial incentive for a way to inexpensively and safely completely clean this area out to be developed. And don't say Seafoam, I am not convinced it can do much in this case and it is notoriously finicky to apply properly.
If you're really interested in fuel economy first and foremost in the 3GS shell then the GS300 can't be beat on the highway but also can't pull as hard 60-120 so it's a tradeoff.
Good points on the AWD and the timing belts. The V8s do not come in AWD, and the older V8 does use a timing belt instead of a timing chain which is on all 3GS engines except the 430.

in the worst, stop and go driving, during the winter it plummets to 16.5, this with absolutely NO highway driving.
On the highway, if it's ONLY highway I can get about 29. Mixed, 25. What's the point, if you numbers are accurate.

i have a 350, but may have taken a 430 if it was the same price.(highly doubted)lol. but v8 cannot waste less gas than a v6. and i dont get the mileage on my car either. besides what are you driving a truck or a sedan? im happy with my car. i can push the pedal and it goes. and i mean GOES! maybe it wont make the growling noise but it moves nonetheless.
