Default Brake TSB

I finally got Lexus to agree to pay for the Brake Squeal TSB the dealer tells me they only install some shims and they dont change the pads.... can anyone tell me if they had that TSB done if thats true???? did the shims stop the squeal??? should they be changing the pads???

When I took it in for brake noise all they did was change the calipers.

My brakes and rotors were worn down anyways, so I changed them both out to Centric PosiQuiets. ZERO brake noise. None!

I had my front brakes replaced twice regarding the squeal. A few months ago I went to Vegas and my brakes started to squeal again but after that incident I haven't heard it lately. I'm hoping it is gone for good but something tells me I will hear more in the future.

Yeah, it didn't help much at the time, and I didn't really care because they did it under warranty and I took the loaner RX off-roading.

Default Q

OMG, our brakes is an embarrassment to the Lexus owners!!!

Couple days after I got my toy back from repairing the "squeaking brakes," I took my wife out for shopping.

As we were waiting for valet to pull up our vehicle, we heard a sharp squeak sound coming out of the vehicle. As we turned around to see, and realized that it was my freaking toy making to noise!!!

Now my wife refused to ride in my toy now, till the freaking noise is fixed...

So I e-mailed my service advisor, bytching about the freaking noise again; she told me to bring it back and they will try to fix it again...

Guess what when my toy was ready for pickup, I heard the freaking noise again as is pulling into the service drive...

She told me that they had done everything they could to resolve the issue, but there is nothing else they can do about it, but she will let me know once they find the replacement...

Yesterday, she told me to bring it in again b/c Lexus HQ had sent a specialist to check on my toy. Hopefully they are able to resolve the issue, I will post once I get my toy back... wish me luck... we all needed !!!

Oh yeah, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR EVERYONE !!!

question: do you guys get it EVERYWHERE u go? or does this only happen when the car is just warm/started up? because yeah.... it's a HUGE embarassment driving out of school with this insanely loud squeeking noise like my fingernails to the chalkboard!

It ALWAYS make that freaking noise during the warmup, but in my case, it also creeps up whenever it feels like it...

HERE IS AN UPDATE:

Following is from my service advisor:

"Your car is ready. Our Lexus representative has submitted a field report on your vehicle. We replaced the shims on your brakes again to temporarily alleviate the squeak. There is not currently a permanent fix for the brakes or the sway bay noises. Thank you for bringing the car in and allowing us to submit the information to Lexus. These reports help tremendously in the R&D process for any current issues. We will contact you as soon as we have any other information or updates available."

Hopefully they will get them right soon!!!
