Mystery rock damage question
Hey guys I was cruising home today after a long day and while driving I heard a loud high pitch noise. It sounded like something hit the car but I figured it may have hit the front and I had the clear bra. When I got home I inspected the car and found these two dings. Both are about 3 mm in length and are down to the metal. One of the two left a dent as well so that will probably need some paintless dent repair.
Question:
1. Any ideas as to how much it will cost for repair of something like this.
2. Will there be an issue with paint color match in direct light.
I am upset but I know I am going to get her fixed . I actually already called my service advisor to let him know to hook me up with the body shop. I am hoping the can get it done for less than a $1000-1500. Regardless I am having it repaired even if I need to file a claim, but I dont think that its going to get that far

Pole Position
You're willing to pay 1500 for that? Bring it over here, and give me that money.
Just put some rust primer, dry, touch up paint, dry, wet sand, polish and it will be like they were never there and cost you about $15 for a whole can of primer and a touch up pen.

I agree with them, you won't need to paint the whole door or quarter panel, but if your super ****, then go ahead, but it would probably cost a max of $500-$700 to get it done at a professional body shop.
BTW, are you sure it was a rock? It's not a big chip or anything, but im sure rock's wouldn't do a chip like that. Just curious.

I have 2 suggestions:
1) It's not clear to me from your photo if there actually is a chip. I had something like that happen to our ES350. I called the ding removal guy, and after he removed the ding, he said that actually it wasn't a chip and he buffed out the white stuff. It looked like new.
2) If it really is chipped, go to a chip repair specialist. Google paint chip repair. They can do amazing work just like the ding removal people.
3) Buy a DIY kit. Like this.

WOW! I am glad to hear this is not going to be as bad as I thought. I am a detail freak so the idea of driving around with nicks in the paint that are noticeable to me from 20-30 feet away drives me crazy. Thanks for all the input

in fact, a good detailer with touch up paint and some time, will be able to take out everything for much cheaper
a while back i had a customer with scuffed up bumper. i worked on it for an hour, not perfect, but probably hid 70% of the problem already
definitely look down that route
