Default Painting Brake Calipers.

I finally received my Lexus Decals after a long wait. I am now thinking about painting my calipers with paint similar to the Fsport Products. Anyone know the actual name of the paint? Or where I can find it from? Also, I am thinking of removing the calipers my self to avoid paying for labor charge.. Is it a complicated task, ie, issue with ABS or something of that sort? Thanks

I would not mess with removing them...paint is called G2, that is what most people use

Can they be painted without removing calipers? I was quoted $500 for the entire job at the dealership, which I think is very overpriced.

I've painted calipers on two different vehicles (not my new GS, yet) and I have never removed the calipers. I painted on the car after CAREFULLY applying masking tape to every area you do not want to paint. Cleaning / Prepping & Masking EVERYTHING is the key and took more time than the two coats of paint...
I used high heat paint on one car and caliper-specifc paint on the other. Both paints were purchased at local auto parts store (AutoZone, etc), but Eyekutr's recommendation appears to be better quality after looking at the site.
Results were a 9 out of 10 for me. Plan to do the GS soon.

Nope. some people paint the center hub portion of the rotor, a diff color like black or silver. DO NOT paint the smooth portion where the calipers contact (obviously) I just masked them off.

i painted everything on my old gs before for fun. took me 5 hours in total (including waiting for layers to dry). didn't take off any brake components. just took out pads, masked out pistons, and the rotors, cleaned everything very well (VERY IMPORTANT), and painted. put on clear coat as well. total cost, maybe about 10 bucks

Rider, The process isn't that difficult, just take time. Yes, you remove the wheels and start cleaning. Here's a few links that explain the process:

There is a tire shop here that paints calipers for $90 or something. I still don't think I would bother, as it's just another thing that you're going to have to keep up on the car as it will probably start peeling after a while and looking like hell anyway.

OK now for the paint, I dont think the Blue G2 paint is the one I am looking for. Where can I find the Fsport Blue Paint?

Uh- sounds like you are asking for a color "close to the F Sport blue". right? If there is an F Sport paint, haven't seen it. Here's some blue options to choose from or you could always have a custom color mixed at an auto body shop to match the F Sport blue. In the mean time, here's some blue options off-the-shelf:

look at the optional photos on this page, the blue looks better on the other photos. Doubleclick the thumbnails:

i don't know what blue on the fsport, but i basically used high temp engine enamel paint from auto store. that's good enough. those paint are cheap, something like 3 bucks a can here. i would just get some and test on some scrap piece and see which one is closest match
