Default Do our heated seats get warm enough - or is there a problem?

I have a '09 GS 350. Even with the heated seats turned to 3, the seats just dont get very warm. Today, my girlfriend made the exact same comment from the passenger seat, so I know its not just the driver's seat. My previous BMW could NEVER even be turned to the full level of heat, bc it would just get too warm. Even my gf's Passat gets much much warmer. So, is there a problem with mine (and if so, what are the odds they would both be defective)? Or, do these seats just not get very warm?

Mine getting pretty toasty even on 2. Most of the time I don't bother setting it higher than 1.5.

They never get hot to the point where it's uncomfortable for me, though if that's what you're looking for.

hmm, even on 3, these heat level is barely noticeable. I mean, you can tell its on, but it doesnt get toasty, thats for sure. I'm beginning to think theres a problem, but how can both seats be defective?

It takes quite a while to heat all the way up, are you sure you're giving it enough of a chance?

Maybe somebody was getting "serviced" pantless in their car at one point and got burned in a sensitive place and threatened to sue and in subsequent model years they "castrated" the seat heaters.

The good news is that you're in basic warranty, so it doesn't hurt to complain about it. Ask them to let you compare with another GS on the lot. If you can show them that there is a significant difference between a random car on the lot and yours of the same model year then you have a case for them to rip your car apart and see what's what.

I spoke with Lexus about this the last time I was in for service. I guess starting in ’07 they did away with heating coils and went to air heated seats. He said a lot of people have complained about it and like you said they warm up slightly but never get hot. Supposedly they are going to fix this issue with newer models and have the combination coils and air heated; I think he said the ’10 RX has the new combo.

same. mine gets warm to the touch on 3 but not hot. it works better than the cooled selection though. the cool setting even on 3 doesnt do jack.

They aren't "cooled" seats, they are ventilated. The only thing it does is blow air through the seats. I notice it readily on mine.

I have a 2008 and it does not get hot...sounds like a design flaw with the forced air instead of coil approach. Is there a fix available?

I have two '08 Lexuses: GS350 and RX350. The RX's seats are much "hotter". I have to turn the seat heater down all the time. The GS seat heater, on the other hand, is barely working. But looks like I am not the only one with this problem.

As far as it being air heated, I think it's BS, because I could hear a distinct humming of the fan when seat coolers are on, but not with the seat heaters. Also, the seats became luke-warm within a minutge of starting the engine, weel before the engine coolent warms up.

Gers warm to me. I think my 01 430 gets warmer but there is either on/off so it can get irritating.

The IS-F gets pretty warm but I think its b/c of the seat design (it doesn't have ventilated b/c of the seat design).
