I have a 2006 GS 300 AWD. There were no problems before or after the EPS campaign. I have had the car up to 90+ and felt no difference in steering at any speed. Very smooth and I do not seem to have any of the problems you describe. I will note that I do find the car is more influenced by road surface with the Pilot Sport A/S 245/40-18s as opposed to the Pilot Alpin 225/50-17s.

I just got rid of my 07 GS 350, end of the 3 yr. lease. As someone said in this thread
"it might just be my crappy yokohoma stock tires though" and it might well be. The loose steering in my opinion was a weaknes in this car from day one. After 10,000 miles or so, it got worst, especially on the highway. I went to the dealer after 12,000 miles and the tire guy found the lousy Yokohama were "cupped". He said a lot of people complained so much about these tires, many were able to trade for Michelin.

Anyway, we just got a 2010 ES 350 and the first thing my wife noticed was the tight smooth, linear and responsive steering! I noticed the improvement of straight line stability on cross winds at illegal speeds (shhh, still braking it in).

Please keep us updated and here's hoping they will be able to sort out the problem to your satisfaction.

My wife got a 2007 ES350 the same day I got the 06 GS300. Her car seems fine and is a pleasure to drive. I think the GS300 has more aggressive styling and love the way it looks. However, her car seems much easier and more pleasurable to drive. I plan to take the GS for a cruise on I95 tomorrow (sunday). I'll let you all know how it is. And, thanks to all of you for your input.

ingoodtime, I have had 2 06 gs300s and they have both been very firm and easy to control on the highway and track conditions up to 110 mph. This is a very tight car and is solid on the highway, I never feel like I have to grip the wheel to maintain control. IN fact I use one hand with a light grasp and it tracks smooth as can be, I cant imagine tires making such a difference. I would test drive a new 2010 GS and see what you see as a comparison.

there's no such thing as cruising on I95
It's all stop and go and constant tailgating.

and on the highway, my GS is solid. Im on highway everyday trying to get to school in boca, 30 mins from where i am, and im always cruising the expressway at 85-90 mph and this thing is so solid that sometimes ill gas it to the point where im looking down going 105 using one finger on steering wheel. It's just the running the small puddles that get tricky. Ill have to see what it is on my next set of tires, mostly the michelin pilots.

Went for a quick drive on st rd 7. Got up to 70 for a short
time and it felt pretty good. I am praying cause this car is
just so beautiful. I would hate to have a lemon and hate the
car. I'll update everyone on Sunday.

I was amazed at how well my GS 350 handled at high speed. I have no problem driving 130+ on a rough road just using my thumb on the bottom of the wheel. The car stays very connected to the road and I don't remember even putting any input into the wheel.

I just got back from a highway trip, hit nearly 100 without even realizing it. These cars really come into their own on the highway, it's nearly dead silent at 80. lack of wind noise is almost eerie.

I can't imagine how much faster a 350/430/460/ or hybrid must feel. Maybe someday I'll sell my awd 300 and step up to one of the bigger engines. And RWD of course.

yep, i have the same car and it is arrow straight and stable at very high speeds. I barely have to move the wheel or correct. I have General UHP tires, I guess they are pretty good. But when I finally need a new set I am going with Bridgestone Turenza serenity. I might even try for a taller sidewall, for the cushiest ride possible. I'm the polar opposite of all you 22" slam guys haha.

Doubt you can lemon a used car unless FL allows that.

Used cars are always a risk but a lot of things can be fixed if you take the time and things are diagnosed correctly.

Another thing about the GS is the wood steering wheel gives you a lighter feel than an all leather wheel. Something to think about.

I drove a LS 430, IS-F and my GS 450h in the same day and the LS was extremely light, the IS-F extremely heavy and the GS just right to me.

The variable assist to me sometimes gets it right and sometimes gets it wrong. That is the system they use though so I learned to live with it.

very happy to say the adjustments made by JM Lexus
did help. I was able to drive comfortably at up to 65 mph
on the way to work. To me, this is the most stylish car
I have ever owned and I would have been heartbroken
if they could not make it handle better. Now, if only
it was as easy to drive as my wifes ES 350.

my GS430, I've gone up to 120mph and still feels as smooth as a baby's butt. I think the car can go faster but the speed started to scare me a little and those sneaky cops have nothing else better to do so I'll keep it easy.

Usually I cruise at 70mph. Just hole the steering with 2 fingers on a strait road.

Why does the amber engine light come on and when you push the car hard like slamming on the gas at 110 and when it reaches around 140 it turns on but when you slow down or let go off the gas it turns off..?

Here are the cars I've owned in succession

Escort>Thunderbirdv8>Focus>2004 Jetta GLI 1.8t>2005 Maxima and now

GS430 2006.

This cars is the finest driving experience ever witnessed. It handles on the highway (i drive 80-90 on the hwy) amazing. Infact i've noticed that in the manual it states it will correct for up to 5mph of cross wind to help you steer straight. I recently drove from Indiana about 1.5hrs during a sleet/snow storm 2 nights ago and again, handles like a champ! I don't get fatigued on long trips like I did with my older cars and I can steer using 1 finger..

I'm riding on 245/40/18 Dunlop A/S's also.

Anyhow, I don't experience anything that you are - so I think there is definitely something wrong w/ your car. A few friends, and my wife and mother have driven the car on the highway and note how smooth and easy to control it is. So I think something is messed up with yours.

I've owned and driven many VW's on the road, including jettas - and they don't have better steering - in fact I feel quite a bit more comfortable in the GS at high speeds.

I would trade the car in if it doesn't get fixed, because something is not right with you car.
