...so I got a third opinion today & was actually shown the pads on two of 4 wheels. Per the mechanic I'm at about 20-25% of brake pad life now. The rotors look fine, but was warned I could screw 'em up if I tried to eek out another month. I told him I plan to swap the pads out with help from a co-worker experienced in changing out brake pads. The mechanic said it was easy, like most on the Forum has already stated, no special tools needed. By the way I contacted the local Akebono dealer in my area to check their price vs the dealer & was quoted $82 for front pads & $90 for rear pads. If the pads sold by Tire Rack are the same as the dealer & the authorized Akebono dealer in my area, I'll look to to Tire at $50/front & $55/rear (I think). Hopefully shipping cost won't drive up the cost too much.

I had a very very good experience with my Stop Tech brakes on my G35 sedan. They worked just as well, had less fade, no smoking brakes while on the track and coming to repeated hard stops, and lasted literally twice as long as the stock oem stuff. As soon as they produce a full stage 2 kit I will have it installed.
