Best portable GPS for 3GS?
I got around without NAV for over 3yr until now. The only available option for me is portable GPS, but I absolutely hate those suction mounting cups and the whole obstructing setup hanging off the windshield. Can anybody recommend the best fitting solution for our 3GS? Is there anything with a remote antenna (out of view) or something like that and GPS/NAV screen that can be mounted somewhere on dashboard level? Also, looks like prices on portable GPS dropped down like a rock, any specific brand or model you can recommend? Thanks for feedback!!!

If you want something that looks built-in, and doesn't hang on windshield, then this is the only solution I can think of. It also gives you bluetooth phone and a backup camera which is nice.

Hmm, not too crazy about smart mirror, I'm afraid it might be too destructing. With other portable GPS, I guess its either Tom Tom or Navigon? Just did a quick search and most of them under $300. For those who use it, can you have portable antenna somewhere in the corner of windshield and GPS unit mounted/clipped somewhere on dashboard?

Looks pretty cool, but it looks like you'd need a magnifying glass to see where you're supposed to go on that thing

You don't have to attach portable GPS to the windshield. I find that the best way to attach them is to the middle of the upper portion of the dash (it's nice and flat on the GS). Garmin Nuvi units are the best, and come with an adhesive disk for easy mounting on the dash. We have one set up on my wife's Odyssey, and it does not protrude much above the dash.

Or an iPhone to SL2Vi. Cheap, simple, versatile and always connected to the internet: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...gation-gs.html
You can use your iphone to watch movies or play games too...but you have to hack it.

You can also get a portable dash mount for the Garmin. It is like a beanbag with a adjustable stand. I use it on my non-nav vehicles. I bought one for around $30
